Kindle Unlimited doesn’t have a teacher discount. Amazon has renamed it Kindle+, and teachers pay the same price as everyone else, with no education rate and no cash back route for the subscription. The cheapest way to read more is on the device side: ID.me lists Kindle e-readers at up to 30% off regular prices for teachers.
Kindle+ is the same monthly reading subscription, now covering ebooks, magazines and comics with no per-title cost. If you came looking for a code to knock down the price, there isn’t one to find, so here’s what does work. Showing a school ID or an educator email at sign-up won’t change the price, because Amazon doesn’t ask for one on the subscription, and the same goes for any code you might find on a coupon site.
How To Get The Kindle Unlimited Teacher Discount
There’s nothing to claim on the subscription itself. Amazon’s Kindle+ sign-up page has no teacher, educator or student wording, and ID.me doesn’t list a teacher discount on Amazon.com. Amazon doesn’t have a separate education page for the subscription either.
Where a teacher can save is on the e-reader you read it on. ID.me lists Kindle e-readers at up to 30% off regular prices, plus up to 2.0% cash back. We walk through that route, step by step, in our Kindle teacher discount post.
Why There’s No Cash Back On The Subscription
Cash back sites don’t pay on subscriptions. Rakuten says cash back isn’t available on Amazon subscriptions or digital purchases, so a Kindle+ sign-up earns nothing there. TopCashback has an Amazon Subscriptions section, but it doesn’t name Kindle Unlimited and only pays in selected departments at Amazon. TopCashback and Fluz have no page for Kindle Unlimited at all.
A Kindle e-reader is a different story. It’s a device purchase, which is why the ID.me device route above lists cash back and the subscription doesn’t.
If You Want A Reading Subscription
If the goal is a library of books for a lot less, see our Scribd educator plan post. It’s a reading subscription with an educator price, which Kindle+ doesn’t have. And if you already pay for Kindle+, nothing about your plan changes because of the new name.
