Amazon teacher discount

Amazon.com doesn’t have a teacher discount, but Amazon devices do. ID.me lists teachers at up to 40% off Echo speakers, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Blink cameras and Amazon Smart Home devices, and up to 30% off Kindle e-readers. Books, classroom supplies, groceries and everything else you buy on Amazon.com are full price for teachers.

That makes this a good fit if you’re shopping for a tablet for your own classroom, a Kindle for summer reading, or a doorbell camera for home. Prime and Kindle Unlimited are memberships rather than devices, so they’re covered in our Prime and Kindle Unlimited posts.

How To Get The Amazon Teacher Discount

  1. Make a free ID.me account and verify that you’re a teacher.
  2. Open the Amazon Devices page on ID.me and look for the Teachers line.
  3. Pick your device. The rates are Echo, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Blink and Smart Home at up to 40% off regular prices, and Kindle e-readers at up to 30% off.
  4. Check the price on the device you want before you pay, since “up to” means the full rate won’t apply to every model.

ID.me also adds up to 2.0% cash back on Amazon Devices. Some devices have purchase quantity limits, so if you’re buying a set of tablets for a classroom, check the limit first. Our Kindle teacher discount post has more on the e-reader side.

Cash Back On Everything Else At Amazon

For the rest of what you buy on Amazon.com, cash back is the only route to a lower price. Rakuten pays $5 cash back on each of your first 3 eligible Amazon orders when you shop through its browser extension or app, as long as you buy within 60 days of signing up. It doesn’t pay on subscriptions, digital purchases or gift cards.

TopCashback pays cash back on eligible Amazon devices, including Kindle e-readers, Fire Tablets and Ring doorbells. Fluz sells Amazon gift cards with 3% cash back, which works for anything you’d buy on Amazon.com. You can start from our Fluz page, TopCashback page or Rakuten page.
