Scribd sells educators Premium for $7.99 a month, against its regular $11.99, or $79.99 for a year against $86.33. You sign up on Scribd’s educator page with a valid educator email address, and the plans are for US-based students and educators.
Scribd is a library of community-uploaded documents, and the educator page frames it for teaching: millions of worksheets, lesson plans, activities and teaching resources. Slideshare is included with the subscription too.
How To Get The Scribd Teacher Discount
Go to Scribd’s educator plans page, pick Premium Monthly or Premium Annual, and sign in to your Scribd account or create one using your educator email address. Scribd’s help center lists those steps and says a valid student or educator email address is required to get the pricing. Both plans show a free trial, and the page says you’re billed after the free trial and can cancel anytime.
What You Pay
On the day we read it, the page listed Premium Monthly for educators at $7.99 a month with $11.99 crossed out, and Premium Annual for educators at $79.99 with $86.33 crossed out, billed once yearly. The annual price sits much closer to its list price than the monthly one does, so compare the two before you commit. Scribd’s help center says you can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time and tells you to check the educator page for current pricing, which it can change.
Who Qualifies
The help center says the Student and Educator Plans are available to US-based students and educators, and that they aren’t available outside the United States. You need a valid student or educator email address, and the plans are open to new and former subscribers only.
If you already pay for Scribd, you don’t get switched over automatically. The help center says to cancel your current subscription first, let your remaining subscription time expire, and then re-subscribe through the educator page using your valid email address. Re-subscribe right away, because canceling ends your plan once the remaining time runs out.
Cash Back
Fluz lists a Scribd store page titled “1.5% cashback at Scribd.” We didn’t test whether it applies to the educator price, so read the terms on Fluz before you count on it. You can start from our Fluz page.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Scribd’s pages say “educator email address” without saying which addresses count, and we didn’t create an account to see what the sign-up screen checks. If your district gives you a school email address, it’s the one to try first. We also can’t say how long the educator price lasts after you sign up, because neither page addresses renewal pricing.
