You’re pricing a long weekend away: a hotel, a rental car and maybe a train, and each teacher discount comes from a different place. Hotels.com and Expedia take 10% off, Wyndham goes up to 20%, and Hertz, Dollar and Budget each offer up to 25% off a rental car. Brightline gives Florida school staff up to 25% off its trains between South Florida and Orlando.
Six of the eleven verify you through ID.me. The rest depend on who you are: AFT and NEA members have their own travel programs, Brightline wants a school email in one of seven Florida districts, Road Scholar’s scholarship is for educators over 50, and EF Tours rewards teachers who lead a student group.

NEA Travel: $1,000 in Savings Dollars for Members
NEA members get $1,000 in Savings Dollars when they enroll in NEA Travel, which costs members nothing, and the balance can take up to a week to show up in your account. Savings Dollars work as partial payment on hotels, car rentals, cruises, resorts and guided vacations. For example, $100 in Savings Dollars takes a $350 two-night hotel stay down to $250. They can’t be applied to flights, though a flight booking earns a $100 Savings Dollars bonus, and they expire 12 months after they’re issued unless stated otherwise.

Road Scholar: Up to $2,000 for Educators Over 50
Road Scholar’s PEAR scholarship gives educators over 50 up to $2,000 toward an eligible program. You have to live in the United States, work in or be retired from an educational organization, and face financial barriers to taking the trip. Awards generally go to households earning less than 80% of their state’s median income, and you can’t have taken a Road Scholar program in the last two years or be enrolled in one now. The award is based on the program cost and the required deposit, so you’ll still pay at least the deposit. Apply at least three months before the program starts, since review takes four to six weeks.
