Budget’s own offers page, the part of it we could read, doesn’t mention teachers or ID.me. It does list Budget’s own deals, including “Save up to 25% on Rentals of 5 Days or More.” So the teacher offer lives on ID.me’s side, and the verifying steps below come from ID.me. Price a plain booking next to the teacher one first.
How To Get The Budget Teacher Discount
- Open ID.me Shop’s Budget page and pick the teacher offer. ID.me’s help center says this sends you to the retailer’s website.
- On Budget’s site, look for the ID.me button. ID.me says it most often appears at checkout, and you may need to say you’re verifying as a teacher.
- Sign in to your ID.me wallet or create one. Then choose “I am licensed by my state,” or choose “I do not have my state license number” and upload documentation.
- Pick your state and follow the prompts. When ID.me accepts you, select Allow so it can share your information with the retailer.
What To Have Ready For ID.me
ID.me’s own tip is to use your state teaching license if you can, because “it’s the fastest way to verify.” If you’d rather upload something, ID.me accepts an ID card, a faculty website screenshot with the URL visible, a teaching certificate, an employment contract, a letter on official letterhead signed by an administrator, or a pay stub or W-2. The document has to show your first and last name.
You “must be a currently employed educator.” ID.me names certified substitutes, paraprofessionals, librarians, school counselors and college professors as eligible. Retired teachers and teachers with expired credentials aren’t. Verification lasts five years.
Budget Cars Versus Budget Trucks
ID.me’s Budget page names one offer “Save up to 25% on Budget Rental Cars,” and nothing on the page mentions trucks. Budget’s own offers page carries a different line, “Save 20% on a one-way or local moving truck rental from Budget Truck,” with no mention of teachers. If you’re renting a moving truck, don’t assume the teacher offer follows.

AFT’s car rental page says “AFT members and their families save on car rentals from the following companies,” and it lists Budget at “save up to 35%.” AFT sends you to Union Plus’s car rental page, which says “make sure you have the corresponding discount number.” Budget’s own partner offers page has a matching line, “Save up to 35% off PAY NOW rates with Union Plus,” and adds that “Union members and their families save up to 35% off PAY NOW rates.”
