Madewell gives teachers 15% off in stores and online, and its own Teacher & Student Discount page says so: ENJOY 15% OFF ONLINE & IN STORES. Any current teacher or college student age 16 or older with a valid ID can receive it. Once you’re verified, the discount is valid for one calendar year and applies to eligible items in your bag, with no promo code needed.
Teach for America and Donors Choose associates are eligible too, with a valid company ID or business card with a photo ID. If jeans are on your list, verify before you fill the cart. Madewell says that to redeem online you must be signed in to your madewell.com account and have a valid school ID on file at the time of purchase.
How To Get The Madewell Teacher Discount
In a store, Madewell says to pop into any Madewell location and show a valid school ID. Its fine print adds that you must present that ID at the time of purchase.
Online, Madewell says to choose your status, then sign up or sign in to your Madewell Insider account. You verify your status as a teacher or college student, and you might need to upload documentation. Teachers and college students age 16 and older of accredited public and private institutions can verify on Madewell’s site.
Madewell’s FAQ explains that SheerID is a third-party verification service that works on behalf of retailers to verify an individual’s affiliations. Its tip for a smooth verification is to enter your first and last name on the form as it appears on your school document(s). If you can’t find your school in the box, Madewell says to type its full name, and that if you still don’t see it you will not be eligible for the offer at this time.
How Long It Lasts
Madewell says your verified status, which you can view in My Account, is good for one year, and your discount is applied automatically when you’re logged into your Insider account. After a year you go through verification again to renew it.
What It Doesn’t Cover
The fine print says the 15% is valid in stores and online only and isn’t valid on phone orders. It can’t be applied to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards, and it isn’t valid on Madewell Archive styles or third-party branded merchandise. Madewell’s FAQ also lists Marketplace merchandise. The discount can’t be redeemed for cash, and the offer is valid in the U.S. only. Madewell adds that terms are subject to change.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Madewell’s FAQ says the discount cannot be combined with select promotions and that, if another promotion is running on the site or in store, the deeper discount will be applied. The fine print says it can’t be combined with any other offer. We couldn’t tell which of those governs a particular sale, so look at the price in your bag before you check out.
Madewell’s pages say any current teacher can receive the discount. We didn’t find a word on whether substitute teachers or part-time instructors count, and the FAQ doesn’t give a time for how long a document review takes.
