Pat Catan’s, an Ohio and surrounding states craft retail chain with 36 stores located across Aliquippa, Hermitage, McKees Rocks and Ohio Township is closing. Michaels Cos. Inc. of Irving announced Wednesday it will close 36 Pat Catan’s Arts & Crafts stores this year and rebrand up to 12 as Michaels stores. Closure and rebranding will incur one-time, after-tax costs between $44 million to $48 million, mostly comprised of lease termination expenses, according to the company. Pat Catan had “struggled against industry headwinds,” said CEO Chuck Rubin in a news release, as the chain bought Pat Catan’s parent Lamrite West Inc in 2016. This story was contributed by Pittsburgh Business Times.
