Avis doesn’t have a teacher discount that ID.me can confirm, and its own teacher page doesn’t describe a check that you teach. ID.me’s Shop page reads: “We’re not aware that AVIS offers Teachers discounts.” Avis does have a page titled “Car Rental Discounts for Teachers” with three offers on it, and none of them mentions a code, an ID or a verification step.
Those offers are worth knowing about if you’re booking a conference trip or a summer drive. The catch is how much of them you’d get anyway. ID.me also lists cash back on Avis rentals that any member can earn, covered below.
How To Get The Avis Teacher Discount
Avis’s teacher page lists three offers, each with a Book Now button. One is $15 off when you rent for 3 days. One is 25% off when you rent for five days or more. The third is 10% off local rentals at an Avis location in your area.
Avis’s general US offers page runs similar deals for everyone. It lists “Save up to 25% on 5+ day rentals,” which it describes as up to 25% off weekly rates, and “Save 10% at local Avis locations,” which it describes as up to 10% off your next rental. Its 3-day offer is different: $10 off when you spend $175 on a rental of 3 days or more. The teacher page doesn’t say how it differs, so check the rate summary when you book. Avis says the savings “will apply automatically and show up in your rate summary,” and that “some car rental special offers do not apply to all car groups, and there may be blackout days or restrictions.”
Other Ways To Pay Less At Avis
Pay Now. Avis’s Best Price Pledge page says “Save up to 35% on Avis.com with our pay now rates.” An FAQ on the general offers page says up to 30%, so treat the exact figure as something to confirm at checkout. The pledge terms say the saving applies only to time and mileage, that taxes, fees and surcharges are extra, and that weekly rates need a minimum five day rental. If you find a lower rate on another site, Avis says it will match it and give an additional discount, but that takes a prepaid Avis.com reservation at least 72 hours ahead plus evidence on a claim form.
Avis Preferred. Enrolling in the base Preferred level is free. Members earn a minimum of 100 points every rental and get exclusive monthly email offers. New members earn 100 bonus points for renting within the first three months. Reward days start at 700 points with no blackout dates.
Budget, from the same company. Avis Budget Group’s site names Avis, Budget and Zipcar as its three brands. Budget is the one with a teacher discount on ID.me, at up to 25% off. Our Budget guide covers how to claim it.
The Cash Back ID.me Lists For Everyone
ID.me’s Avis store page is titled “AVIS Discounts and Cash Back for Everyone,” and it shows up to 2.5% cash back for any ID.me member. Teachers don’t get a separate rate. The page says “Cash back is available on completed registrations” and “Cash back is not available on rentals outside the US and Canada, and those that use the Avis Worldwide Discount.” It also says using coupons and promotional codes not on ID.me may void cash back, and that other restrictions may apply.
Avis says the savings on its teacher page “will apply automatically,” and ID.me doesn’t say whether an automatic offer counts against that coupon warning. Check the offer screen before you book. Rates change, so confirm the current number on ID.me first.
