SDC (Special Day Class) teachers are charged with teaching students with severe learning disabilities or emotional disorders that prevent them from engaging in grade-level instruction with their peers. While this requires different duties than classroom teachers, SDC teachers still bear many of the same responsibilities; such as creating lessons tailored specifically for these students, developing positive relationships within their classes, providing professional development to peers, communicating with parents about student progress and working in collaboration with classroom teachers and school personnel.
Many stores and organizations provide discounts to educators with valid school ID cards or certification as educators. Some programs are nationwide while others are specific to certain locations – some examples include Book Warehouse, Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s Lakeshore Learning Blick for Educators Sherwin Williams. Teachers can also join National Educator Discount Program from FedEx and Staples Teacher Rewards program to enjoy discounts on classroom supplies, organizational resources and more!
Teachers can save money when showing their school ID at various restaurants and retail outlets, including Pizza Hut which provides a 20% discount to teachers and their family members on food orders; Dunn Brothers Coffee does not advertise a discount specifically for teachers but some have reported being eligible for one after asking nicely; STA Travel also offers teachers an International Teacher Identity Card which unlocks savings on everything from shopping to travel!
