Liberty Science Center takes $10 off general admission for educators who show ID at the Box Office on the day they visit. The FAQ page that lists the discount says Educators and doesn’t name a state, a district or a grade range, so it isn’t written as a New Jersey-only perk.

If you’re planning a Saturday under the planetarium dome with your own kids, or walking the building before you book a class, plan around one thing: the discount happens at the Box Office window, not in the online checkout. Here’s what the page says, so nothing surprises you at the counter.

How To Get The Liberty Science Center Teacher Discount

The Liberty Science Center FAQ says educators receive $10 off of their general admission when ID is shown on site at the Box Office on the day of the visit. Discounted tickets are verified at the Box Office only, on the day of your visit, so the discount isn’t something you apply online ahead of time.

You don’t have to wait until you arrive to buy, though. The FAQ says purchasing in advance is still highly encouraged, because discounts can be retroactively applied to tickets pre-purchased from the website. The directions and pricing page adds that the best price on admission comes when you buy at least one day in advance. So you can book online, then stop at the Box Office with your ID and ask for the $10 to be applied.

The FAQ also says discounts can’t be combined with other offers or discounts, so plan on using this one on its own.

What The $10 Covers

The discount is written as $10 off of an educator’s general admission, and that’s the wording to hold onto when you’re deciding what to buy for the day. In an answer about the planetarium, the same FAQ says planetarium tickets must be purchased in addition to general admission, so if the dome is the reason you’re going, expect it to be a separate ticket.

Once you’ve bought tickets, the FAQ says all sales are final and refunds aren’t provided for unused general admission, planetarium, theater or premium exhibition tickets. That’s worth knowing before you book a day that a sick class or a rainy forecast could change.

The Veterans And Active Duty Offer

The same FAQ answer lists a second discount: active duty and veterans of the US Military receive free general admission for themselves when ID is shown at the Box Office on the day of the visit. It’s a separate offer from the educator discount, and both carry the note that discounts can’t be combined with other offers.

Bringing A Class

The educator line is worded for you, so a class trip goes through a different door. The directions and pricing page says that if you’re traveling with a group of ten or more, you can ask about group discounts by calling 201.253.1310 or emailing groups@lsc.org. The field trips page also lists groups@lsc.org for general field trips, and the educators page gives 201.253.1337 and partnerships@lsc.org for questions about the education programs.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The FAQ line says Educators and doesn’t define the word, so we can’t tell you whether it includes substitutes, aides, administrators or homeschool teachers. It says ID without saying which kind, so we can’t say whether a school badge is enough or whether the Box Office wants a photo ID too. If you carry a school badge, bring it, and be ready to ask at the window.

The line doesn’t say whether the $10 also comes off the tickets of the people you’re with, whether it applies to a planetarium or theater ticket, or whether it has an end date. The Box Office is where the discount is verified, so that’s the place to ask.
