Leatherman gives teachers a real 20% discount on eligible multi-tools through its Public Service Discount Program, verified through VerifyPass rather than ID.me. It’s open to Pre-K through K-12 teachers and professors, alongside other community groups the brand recognizes.
Leatherman makes the multi-tools and pocket knives that started the category: the original Leatherman PST, invented in Portland, Oregon, folded pliers, knives, screwdrivers and more into one pocket-sized tool, and the company still builds its tools there today. The lineup now spans everyday-carry multi-tools, folding knives, fixed blades and replacement parts, sold through leatherman.com and major outdoor and hardware retailers alike.
How To Get The Leatherman Teacher Discount
Leatherman’s own words: “We proudly offer a 20% discount on eligible multi-tools* to those who serve and support our communities.” That program is the Public Service Discount Program, and its published eligibility list names “Teachers – Pre-K, K-12 and Professors” alongside military and veterans, first responders, utility workers, search and rescue members, and Peace Corps members.
Verification runs through VerifyPass, a third-party identity-verification partner, not ID.me. Click through from Leatherman’s discount page, verify your eligibility, and a one-time discount code arrives by email once approved. The code is good for 20% off at checkout, with real limits worth knowing before you buy:
- The discount applies only to products in Leatherman’s Community Discount Eligible Products collection, not the entire catalog, and “limit of 1 code for each eligible person every 365 days” keeps it to one redemption a year.
- “Limit 3 discounted tools per order” caps how many tools one code can cover.
- It’s “available only on www.leatherman.com,” so a code earned here won’t work at a third-party retailer.
- “Cannot be combined with any other offer,” and the discount applies to the original tool price and custom add-on features only, not to prior purchases.
Each code also carries an expiration date tied to the calendar year, so a code claimed late in the year is worth using before it lapses rather than banking for next season. For more ways to save on outdoor and everyday-carry gear, see more sports and outdoors discounts for teachers.
Q&A
Does Leatherman have a teacher discount?
Yes. It’s a real 20% discount on eligible multi-tools, and Leatherman’s own Public Service Discount Program page names Pre-K, K-12 and professor-level teachers specifically as an eligible group.
Does Leatherman use ID.me for teacher verification?
No. Leatherman verifies through VerifyPass, a separate identity-verification service. The process works the same basic way: confirm your eligibility, then receive a discount code by email.
Can I use the Leatherman teacher discount on any product?
No. It’s limited to the Community Discount Eligible Products collection, and Leatherman says product eligibility can change without notice, so check what’s included at the time you redeem rather than assuming every multi-tool or knife qualifies.
How often can I use the Leatherman teacher discount?
Once every 365 days per eligible person, with a limit of 3 discounted tools on that one order. It isn’t a standing code you can reuse all year.
Are other community groups eligible besides teachers?
Yes. The same Public Service Discount Program also covers active duty and veteran military, police, fire and EMT first responders, utility workers, search and rescue members, and Peace Corps members, all verified through the same VerifyPass process.
More Information:
Leatherman’s teacher discount is confirmed directly on the brand’s own Public Service Discount Program page: a real 20% off eligible multi-tools, open to Pre-K through professor-level educators, verified through VerifyPass rather than ID.me. The brand’s separate Student Discount and Healthcare & Veterinary Discount programs are different offers for different groups and don’t apply to a teacher’s own purchase.
