Wintergreen Resort in Virginia has two ways for teachers to ski for less, and both are written on its special offers page. One is a discounted lift offer on non-holiday Mondays for first responders, military members, healthcare workers and teachers. The other is a School Snow Days rate for school faculty in nearby districts when winter weather closes school.

Both are bought in person, and both run through Wintergreen’s e-Club, its email club. If you’re planning a snow day or a Monday on the slopes, joining the club ahead of time is the step that decides whether the ticket window can help you.

How To Get The Wintergreen Resort Teacher Discount

For the Monday offer, the page’s instructions are to “join the e-Club in advance and bring valid ID.” It runs on every non-holiday Monday in the winter months. The page also says “Offer not available online. Purchase in person at the lift ticket windows,” so the discount doesn’t show up at an online checkout.

The page doesn’t say which ID counts for teachers. Bring your school ID along with a government photo ID, and let the ticket window tell you which one it wants.

What The Monday Rates Are

The rates printed under the offer are $59 for an 8-hour lift ticket with rental and $39 for an 8-hour lift ticket only. A Group Never Ever Lesson can be added for 25% off with rental (ages 8+), and a one-time $5 RFID media fee applies if you don’t already have a card. If you ski with your own gear, the lift-only rate is the one you want.

School Snow Days For Faculty

The second offer is for days when school is out because of winter weather. The page says “Local students, parents, and school faculty who are out of school due to inclement weather can enjoy special reduced rates on 8-hour lift tickets.” The printed rates match the Monday ones, and the offer is valid Monday through Friday, non-holiday only.

It’s limited to eligible school districts: Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Staunton, Lynchburg, Metro Richmond, and the counties of Nelson, Albemarle, Augusta, Amherst, Greene, Louisa, Orange, Buckingham and Rockbridge. You join the e-Club at least 24 hours before your visit and show your ID from an eligible district at the ticket window. Children 13 and younger must be accompanied by a parent.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The page prints a start date for each offer in the new year, and it doesn’t say whether that date is when the offers begin or when the e-Club sign-up does. We couldn’t find which ID a teacher should bring for the Monday offer, how many tickets you can buy at the rate, or whether a guest can ride with you at the same price. If you’re planning around one particular Monday, contact the resort first.
