Amazon Devices has a teacher offer, and Amazon.com as a whole doesn’t. ID.me’s store page for Amazon Devices lists teachers saving up to 40% off, with Kindle e-readers at up to 30% off, plus up to 2.0% cash back through ID.me Shop. ID.me’s page for Amazon itself says it isn’t aware of Amazon offering Teachers community discounts, so the savings are on the hardware: Echo, Fire tablets, Fire TV and Kindle.
If you go looking for a teacher code at Amazon’s regular checkout, you won’t find one. Here’s where the discount is, what the listing says, and what we couldn’t check.
How To Get The Amazon Teacher Discount
Start from ID.me’s Amazon Devices store page. It lists a line for each verified group, and the Teachers line reads “Teachers save up to 40% Off! Enjoy Amazon Devices with savings.” ID.me’s teacher page for Amazon Devices says Amazon Devices has a Teachers discount and/or cash back offer. You’ll need an ID.me account with your teacher status verified before the offer applies.
The store page breaks the savings out by device type. Up to 40% off regular prices for Echo devices, Fire Tablets and Fire TV, up to 30% off for Kindle e-readers, and the same up to 40% for Blink cameras and Amazon Smart Home devices. Those are ceilings, not promises for every model, so look at the price on the device you actually want. We cover the e-reader line separately in our Kindle teacher discount post.
What The Listing Doesn’t Cover
ID.me’s page for Amazon itself says “We are not aware of Amazon offering Teachers community discounts.” Amazon’s own educators address, amazon.com/educators, returns a Page Not Found. So books, classroom supplies, groceries and everything else on Amazon.com sit outside this offer.
The Devices store page also says some devices have limitations on purchase quantities and that additional restrictions may apply. If you’re planning to buy several tablets for a classroom, check the limit before you build a plan around the price.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
The ID.me listing already includes up to 2.0% cash back. If you’d rather use a different portal for regular Amazon shopping, here’s what we found on all three. TopCashback’s Amazon page is titled Amazon Devices and says you can get money back on eligible Amazon devices. It names Kindle e-readers, Fire Tablets and Ring Doorbells as examples.
Rakuten’s Amazon page offers $5 cash back on each of your first 3 eligible Amazon orders through its browser extension or app, and says those purchases must be made within 60 days of signing up. Its terms say cash back isn’t available on subscriptions, digital purchases or gift card purchases. Fluz sells Amazon gift cards with 3% cashback listed on its Amazon page. You can start from our Fluz page, TopCashback page or Rakuten page.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The Amazon Devices offer comes from ID.me’s listing. Amazon’s own Amazon Devices page, which we read in a browser, has no mention of ID.me or teachers, so we can’t show you where Amazon states the offer. We didn’t verify an ID.me account or place an order, which means we haven’t seen the discounted price appear at checkout. We also didn’t test whether the ID.me cash back and a second portal’s cash back can be claimed on the same order, and we didn’t compare the discounted price with Amazon’s everyday sale prices on the same device.
