Downtown Aquarium Houston doesn’t list a standing teacher discount. Its ticket page shows no teacher price, and the teacher offer on the teacher resources page is a Teacher’s Night Out Party, thrown “every so often” with discounted tickets, cocktails and appetizers. The page gives no date for the next one.
So the useful things to know are what to watch for and what a class gets on a booked visit. The same page says the aquarium can hand a class Certificate of Achievement Awards with two coupons attached, and the field-trip page lists the All Day Adventure Pass at $12 for school groups.
How To Get The Downtown Aquarium Houston Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher line to ask for at the ticket booth. The ticket page lists adults at $25.99 for the All Day Adventure Pass and $16.99 for the exhibit alone, and it doesn’t mention teachers anywhere in those prices.
The Teacher’s Night Out Party is the offer to look for. The teacher resources page says staff will share their new classroom resource information at it. The page closes with “Stay tuned for upcoming dates and details” and doesn’t say where those get announced, so there’s no sign-up step we can point you to.
Class Certificates And Coupons
The same page says the aquarium can give your class Certificate of Achievement Awards with two different coupons to the aquarium. The coupon discounts include exhibit admission discounts, free kids meals and free appetizers, and the page adds that coupons are subject to change. It doesn’t say how much the exhibit discount takes off. For details it says to reach out, and the page has an Email Us Today button for that.
Who Counts As A Teacher
The page opens with “Teacher only events” and describes the party the same way. We didn’t see any wording about K-12, public or private school, or certification, and nothing that ties the party to a Houston address.
Bringing A Class
The school-group rate is the discount you can count on. The field-trip page lists a self-guided visit at $12 for the All Day Adventure Pass, which its FAQ says is regularly $25.99. Groups need at least 10 students and a reservation at least two weeks before the visit, and booking is online with a deposit plus online booking fees.
School groups get one complimentary chaperone for every five students registered, and additional adults buy a group rate ticket. Paraprofessionals have the option of complimentary admission when you book. The page’s list of groups that qualify names public, private, charter and religious schools, plus homeschool groups.
What Everyone Else Pays
Walking in on your own, an adult pays $25.99 for the All Day Adventure Pass, which covers the exhibit, the rides and Stingray Reef, or $16.99 for the exhibit only. The one ID-based price on the ticket page is $2 off the All Day Adventure Pass for active military or VA ID, bought at the ticket booth.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The page doesn’t give a date for the next Teacher’s Night Out Party, a ticket price for it, or a way to get on a list for it. It doesn’t say how large the coupon discounts are, or whether a coupon goes to the teacher or stays with the class. On field trips, we couldn’t tell whether the teacher leading the group counts as one of the free chaperones. Since the party and the coupons are the only teacher offers the aquarium describes, it’s worth emailing before you plan around either one.
