The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is a multi-venue facility dedicated to arts programming that presents operas, ballets, concerts and community events as well as featuring performances such as opera, ballet, concerts and Broadway Across America. Additionally, local, regional and national companies such as Florida Grand Opera partner with them on their performances – featuring Florida Grand Opera as its resident company along with Concert Association of Florida (CAFL) and Broadway Across America as partners as well. Furthermore, The Broward Center houses Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center located within its walls.
Under Shanley’s direction, Broward Center expanded in size and scope while becoming a regional leader for arts-in-education and community engagement programs. Furthermore, they established an effective destination marketing initiative with Historic Stranahan House Museum, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Aventura Arts & Cultural Center as well as other Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District partner venues to promote cultural tourism within downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Today, the Broward Center has earned a well-earned reputation as one of the country’s premier arts centers, hosting over 700 performances annually for over seven hundred thousand guests and offering world-class entertainment and innovative arts-based programs. As an integral component of Fort Lauderdale’s downtown arts and entertainment district, its existence remains assured through ongoing partnerships, growth strategies, and community outreach activities.
