First Lite, the hunting apparel company, names teachers in its Pro Program. The page says the program gets qualified people a discounted rate across First Lite, Phelps Game Calls, FHF Gear and The MeatEater Store with a single login. It doesn’t print the percentage, so we can tell you who it’s for and how to apply, but not what you’ll save.
If you hunt in the fall and teach the rest of the year, it’s worth a look. Here’s what First Lite says, in the order you’ll run into it.
How To Get The First Lite Teacher Discount
Start on First Lite’s Pro Program page. It says the program is open to qualified outdoor professionals, conservation groups, active and retired law enforcement, active and retired military, first responders, select government employees, nurses, and teachers. Teachers are named plainly in that list, and the page gives no separate teacher form or teacher-specific proof.
To apply, the page says you log in or create a customer account first. The program rules add that to be approved you must have a First Lite customer account, and that your application has to use the email tied to that account. So set up the account with the email you plan to keep using before you apply.
Guides and outfitters have a separate path. The page says if you’re a guide or outfitter, apply through the Guide & Outfitter Application instead. Teachers use the Pro Program Application on the same page.
The Rules You Agree To
The Pro Program Rules & Guidelines are short and worth reading before you apply, because a couple of them change how you’d shop.
The membership and the discount are for your use only, and the rules say purchasing gear for anyone other than yourself is strictly prohibited. There’s a spending limit of $2,000 per calendar year, calculated after discounts are applied. Your Pro discount can’t be combined with any other promotions, discounts or offers. All Pro purchases can be returned or exchanged within 30 days, and members are responsible for return shipping.
Members also have to stay subscribed to First Lite’s email newsletter to receive program updates. And the rules say Pro Program discounts aren’t available through First Lite’s wholesale partners, so the discount works on First Lite’s own site and not in a retailer’s store.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The Pro Program page says “a discounted rate” and nothing more, and the rules page doesn’t list one either, so we don’t know the percentage. We also can’t say how First Lite checks that you’re a teacher, since the pages we read don’t describe the proof it asks for. The page says “select” in front of the government employees entry, and we couldn’t tell from it whether approval is automatic for everyone on the list. We didn’t apply, so we can’t speak to how long approval takes.
Ask First Lite’s customer service at the number on its contact page if you want the rate before you apply. The page lists a phone number and hours of Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM MST.
