If you teach at a public school in the U.S., GORUCK gives you 20% off full-priced gear and 15% off its events. It’s called the Earned Service Discount, and you get it by verifying with GovX ID right in the GORUCK cart. Whether you’re after a rucksack that can haul a laptop, a stack of grading and lunch, or you want to sign up for a weekend ruck with friends, that’s a real saving on gear that isn’t cheap.
GORUCK is an American company that makes rucksacks, weighted vests, ruck plates, footwear and apparel built for rucking, which is walking with weight on your back. Jason and Emily McCarthy started it while he was in Special Forces and she was in the CIA, and its rucking events are led by current and former Special Forces combat veterans. It gives 1% of its yearly revenue to nonprofits that support people who serve, teachers included.

- Fill your cart on goruck.com with full-priced gear.

- A window pops up asking you to log in to GovX ID. Make sure your browser isn’t blocking pop-ups. If you don’t have a GovX ID account yet, create one and choose “Public School Teacher” as your affiliation.
- Once you’re logged in, your discount code fills in. Click USE CODE and it comes off at checkout.
What The Discount Covers
You save 20% on full-priced rucks, bags, apparel, footwear and training gear, and 15% on GORUCK events. It doesn’t work on items already on sale, on training programs, or on subscriptions like GORUCK Tribe. The offer is for U.S. groups only.
Because the discount only works on full-priced items, compare it with whatever sale is running before you buy. If the piece you want is already marked down, the sale price is what you’ll pay, and the teacher discount won’t stack on top of it.
GORUCK names public school teachers at every education level. If you teach at a private school, you can still try. You’ll find out during GovX verification whether your role is accepted.
The other reason the price is easier to justify on a teacher’s budget: GORUCK’s Scars Lifetime Guarantee. If you wear out or damage a ruck or other gear through use, GORUCK will repair or replace it, and you don’t need proof of purchase. Footwear is the exception. Shoes and boots are covered for defects in materials or workmanship, not normal wear.
