Sam’s own current teacher page and help article wouldn’t load for us, so this post leans on ID.me’s Sam’s Club page and an older archived copy of Sam’s teacher page. ID.me lists an offer on a new Sam’s Club membership for teachers who verify with it.
If you buy classroom supplies in bulk, or you’ve been eyeing a warehouse membership for your own pantry, read the terms before you pay. The offer is for new members only, and the terms say the membership renews on its own every year until you cancel it.
How To Get The Sam’s Club Teacher Discount
ID.me’s hosted Sam’s Club page says to verify your teacher status with ID.me and then join as a new Sam’s Club member through the link ID.me gives you. Its terms say you must join through that link to qualify, so use it instead of signing up on Sam’s own site. The page says the offer is limited to U.S. teachers, and that you must be 18 years or older to become a member.
On the amounts, we only have ID.me’s word. Its store listing says Teachers can join Sam’s Club for just $20 and become a Plus Member for only $50, and the hosted page says you can become a Plus member for just $50. We couldn’t read those figures on Sam’s own page, so check the price on the sign-up screen before you pay.
What Plus Adds On ID.me’s Page
The hosted page lists perks for Plus members: free shipping and delivery on qualifying orders, early shopping hours, and 2% Sam’s Cash back (up to $750 per 12-month membership period). The page also has a link to join as a Club member instead, which is the route to the $20 figure on the store listing.
The store listing gives the same $20 and $50 line for several other groups: military members, first responders, students, seniors and eligible government assistance recipients. So the figures aren’t unique to teachers on that listing.
Who Qualifies
ID.me’s hosted page says the offer is limited to U.S. teachers. Its terms say it’s valid for new Sam’s Club members only, and not for renewals, people with a current membership, former members within a waiting period, or Walmart and Sam’s Club associates.
The archived copy of Sam’s own teacher page lists a wider group: classroom teachers, principals and assistant principals, school employees, and college and university professors. It also says the offer is for new members only and applies a waiting period to former members. The archived page and ID.me’s terms give different waiting periods, so we’re not printing either one. If you’ve been a Sam’s member before, ask Sam’s whether you’re eligible before you sign up.
Before You Join
The hosted page says accepting the offer authorizes annual recurring charges for the membership fee until you cancel. You can cancel or turn off auto-renew at any time in your online account, and the page says to cancel at least 24 hours before your membership is due to renew to avoid being charged. Primary memberships are valid for one year from the date of issue.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Sam’s Club’s teacher page showed a robot check when we opened it, and its help center article returned an error. That means we couldn’t confirm that Sam’s still runs this offer on these terms, that the $20 and $50 prices are what Sam’s charges teachers, or which groups beyond U.S. teachers can use it today. The archived copy says Sam’s wants to thank educators with a special membership discount, but it’s an older copy and gives no amount.
