Purple gives verified teachers 10% off. You verify through SheerID on Purple’s education discount page, and Purple emails you a coupon you paste in at checkout. The terms say it’s valid online at purple.com and at participating retail stores, and that it can’t be combined with other offers.
If a new mattress is on your holiday list, the part to plan around is the single-use code. You get one promo code per verification, and it doesn’t cover shipping and handling, taxes or packaging, so the 10% comes off the merchandise only. Everything below comes from Purple’s page.
How To Get The Purple Mattress Teacher Discount
Purple’s page is shared by teachers and students, with a Verify student ID button and a Verify teacher ID button. Select the teacher one and follow the prompts. The page asks you to enter your first and last name as it appears on your school ID, and says that in some cases additional documentation may be required.
If you’re not instantly verified, the page says you’ll be contacted by email in less than 20 minutes with your eligibility status. Once you’re verified, you’ll receive a single-use promo code to copy and paste into your shopping cart at checkout. The page’s note also says that once you’re verified you’ll be emailed a coupon for 10% off, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Who Qualifies
The page headline reads “Teachers + students get 10% off.” It doesn’t define teacher, and it doesn’t split K-12 from college. The only requirement it spells out is the name on your school ID, so if you’re a substitute, an aide or a tutor, you’ll find out at the verification step.
Purple says it partners with SheerID to check eligibility, and that SheerID doesn’t store documents or images uploaded to its system.
What The Code Covers
The page says to save 10% on your order. Its terms add that the discount applies to merchandise only, not shipping and handling, taxes or packaging. They also say the teacher and student discounts aren’t eligible for retroactive orders, that no price adjustments will be made on previous purchases, and that purchases made with the offer aren’t eligible for future price adjustments. So verify before you buy, not after.
The terms say the code is valid for one-time use online, or a card must be presented in store at checkout, and that proper identification must be shown. They also say the offer is valid at participating retail stores, and don’t name which stores. Under its general benefits the page lists a 100 night trial and a 10 year warranty. It doesn’t say whether using the teacher code changes either one.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The terms say the offer can’t be combined with other offers. They don’t say whether a marked-down sale price counts as another offer, so we can’t tell you whether the code works on an item already on sale. Check the price at checkout before you commit.
We read Purple’s U.S. education page. Purple’s site also has a Canada version, and we didn’t read an education page for it. The page also doesn’t say what the card is that it asks you to present in a store, or how long the coupon stays valid. It shows no end date and no holiday terms, and it says Purple reserves the right to change or cancel the promotion at any time.
Mattress Firm sells mattresses too. Its own teacher page offers an extra 10% off Purple with offer code, and then lists Purple among the items its offer isn’t valid on, so we can’t tell you which one applies. Our Mattress Firm post has the details. We didn’t verify through SheerID or place an order, so we can’t show you a checkout price.
