Zoo Atlanta doesn’t list a standing teacher discount on regular admission. What it does list for educators is two events each year, a spring Educator Appreciation Day with free admission for educators and a fall Educator Soirée after hours, plus $10 off any level of Zoo Membership.
The events aren’t limited to classroom teachers or to Georgia. The event pages say they’re open to active teachers, local and out-of-state educators, informal educators and administrative support staff, so if your job supports a school without a classroom attached, read that list before assuming it leaves you out.
How To Get The Zoo Atlanta Teacher Discount
There’s nothing to ask for at the ticket window on an ordinary day. The tickets page lists a military discount and a college student discount and no discount for teachers. For educators, the Teachers page points to the two events and the membership discount.
For both events, the event pages say educators must present a valid educator ID or relevant documentation and a photo ID. Each event page also says when registration opens, so open the event page for the next date and plan from that instead of from a day we can’t promise.
Educator Appreciation Day In The Spring
The title of the Educator Appreciation Day page says free admission for educators. Zoo Atlanta’s press release for the most recent one says educators enjoy free admission and $5 off general admission for up to four family members or guests. The event page itself says up to four family members or guests accompanying educators will enjoy $5 off general admission on the day of the event, and that educators receive discounts around the Zoo.
The page also encourages educators to visit its educational booths throughout the Zoo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet Zoo team members and learn about the Zoo’s educational programming.
Educator Soirée In The Fall
The Educator Soirée page opens with “Teachers, enjoy an evening just for you!” It describes strolling the Zoo after hours at twilight in an exclusive, adults-only event, with animal encounters and keeper presentations and a chance to meet Zoo Educators and network with fellow teachers. Registered participants are automatically entered into its raffles.
One additional ticket may be purchased for a guest. All guests must be at least 18 years of age, and children aren’t allowed in the Zoo during the event, so it’s an evening for you and another adult. The page lists parking in the lot on Cherokee Avenue at a discounted rate of $6.
Educator Membership
Educators save $10 on any level of Zoo Membership. The Educator Membership page says to call 404.624.5662 to obtain your discount, so it’s a phone claim. The regular Membership page doesn’t mention an educator discount, so start from the Educator Membership page.
School Field Trips
The Teachers page says you can explore the Zoo on your own at a discounted group rate for schools, summer camps, daycares and additional youth groups. It also says Zoo Atlanta offers free admission to a limited number of Georgia Title I Schools for their students. That one is for a school’s students rather than a personal teacher discount, so it won’t help your own visit, but it matters if your school qualifies.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Neither event page gives a price for the Soirée ticket or for the extra guest ticket. The spring page says educators receive discounts around the Zoo but doesn’t list which ones or how big they are. We didn’t find a price for the school group rate either. We haven’t called the membership line, so we can’t tell you what the staff ask for to confirm you’re an educator or whether the $10 combines with other offers.
