Ski Brule, a family-run ski area in Iron River, Michigan, sets aside a week for teachers. During its Appreciation Weeks, the resort lists a $69 lift ticket as a “special rate for teachers, military, medical professionals, first responders and college students with qualifying ID.” The teacher week runs 3/25 through 3/28.

The regular adult ticket is $79 on the tickets page, so the teacher rate is $10 less. If you’d like to make a weekend of it, the resort also takes 15% off a lift and lodging package for the same teacher week.

How To Get The Ski Brule Teacher Discount

Put 3/25 through 3/28 on your calendar. Both the rates page and the tickets page list those dates for teachers. The page says only “qualifying ID,” and it doesn’t say which ID counts, so bring your school ID and a recent pay stub.

The page also doesn’t say how the $69 ticket is bought, so ask at the ticket window when you arrive.

For the lodging package, the page says to call 906-265-4957, because lodging packages can’t be booked online. The package saves 15% on a lift plus lodging package and needs a minimum 2-night stay and a 2-day lift ticket purchase for guests ages 10 and up.

What The Rates Are

On the tickets page, the adult all-day lift ticket is $79 and the junior ticket, for ages 10 to 17, is $69. Kids ages 9 and under get free lift tickets every day, which helps if you’re bringing your own.

If you can plan ahead, the advance lift ticket voucher may cost less than the teacher ticket. The tickets page lists it at $64, valid anytime from opening through closing and on sale only through 12/24, while the rates page lists the same voucher at $69. The two pages disagree, so check the price when you buy. If $64 holds, that’s $5 less than the teacher ticket, and it works any day, not just your week.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The page says “qualifying ID” and doesn’t name it, so we can’t say whether the window wants a school badge, a pay stub or a letter from your district. It also doesn’t say whether the $69 ticket is limited to your week, or whether you can buy it ahead online. We couldn’t tell whether substitutes, part-time teachers or retired teachers count. The tickets page lists different weeks for some of the other groups than the rates page does, so confirm the teacher dates with the resort when you book. Ski Brule says rates posted on its own website are the only accurate pricing source and that prices from other websites won’t be honored, so check its rates page before you go.
