Active Florida PreK-12 educators get free general admission to Orlando Science Center, or 15% off an annual membership, when they show a school ID, a teaching certificate or a recent pay stub along with a photo ID. The visit page says the offer is for active Florida educators, and that the museum can’t process discounted admissions online, so you check in at the admissions desk on the day you go.

If you’re a Florida teacher with a free weekend and a couple of kids who’d rather be anywhere but the couch, this is the ticket worth knowing about. The visit page lists an adult ticket (18+) at $29 online or $32 onsite, so the free admission saves you that at the door. Here’s what to bring, where the free ticket stops and what the page doesn’t answer.

How To Get The Orlando Science Center Teacher Discount

Bring one of three things: a school ID with a photo ID, a teaching certificate with a photo ID, or a recent pay stub with a photo ID. The visit page says to show it at Guest Services, and it says to check in at the admissions desk on the day of your visit. It names both places, so ask at whichever you reach first.

You can’t book this one ahead. The page says the museum is currently unable to process discounted admissions online, and that you gain admittance during the first available time slot. The offer applies to active PreK-12 educators.

Who Counts As A Florida Educator

The visit page says active PreK-12 educators, and the membership discounts page spells out the ID for each end of that range. Preschool and early childhood educators must show a school photo ID card, or a pay stub with a matching photo ID. Kindergarten through 12th grade educators must show a school or district photo ID card, or a pay stub with a matching photo ID. The membership page adds that the discount applies to educators.

Neither page defines what makes someone a Florida educator, so we can’t tell you whether it means you live in Florida or work in a Florida school. Retired teachers, college faculty, homeschool educators and school staff who don’t teach aren’t mentioned either way.

What The Free Ticket Doesn’t Cover

The visit page says free admission isn’t applicable to field trips, special events or blockbuster exhibits. So the free ticket is for your own visit, and it doesn’t stretch to a class trip or a blockbuster exhibit.

15% Off An Annual Membership

The other half of the offer is 15% off an annual membership. The membership discounts page lists Florida Educators at 15%, and it says discounted memberships can only be purchased in person at Orlando Science Center when the right credentials are presented. It also says the discount has to be presented at the time of purchase and can’t be applied after the sale is final, so bring your ID when you buy.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The pages don’t say whether a guest who comes with you gets any discount, and they don’t say whether you can choose your entry time or only take the first available time slot. We didn’t find a start or end date for the offer on either page.
