Melissa & Doug gives PreK-12 educators 15% off select products. You verify your status through ID.me first, and the discount is applied automatically at checkout once you have. Its educator discount page names three groups: classroom teachers, principals and assistant principals, and school employees, all within the U.S.

If you’re filling a classroom bin or building a holiday list for your own kids, the verification is the step to do before you shop, since the discount only applies after ID.me has confirmed you. Here’s what the page says about who qualifies, what’s left out and what doesn’t stack.

How To Get The Melissa & Doug Teacher Discount

Melissa & Doug’s educator discount page says: “Enjoy 15% off select products after verifying your status through ID.me.” To qualify, it says, you first visit the site of its trusted verification partner ID.me and create an account. The page has a Continue with ID.me button, and a legal notice above it explains that clicking it means you are leaving MelissaAndDoug.com and will be redirected to a website owned and operated solely by ID.me.

After you’re verified, the page says the discount will automatically be applied during checkout, so there’s no code to type in. We didn’t create an ID.me account, so we haven’t seen the screens that come after the button.

Who Qualifies

The page’s FAQ says eligibility depends on your job title, and you must have one of the listed job titles within the U.S. to verify as an educator. The titles it lists are Classroom Teachers (PreK-12), Principals and Assistant Principals (PreK-12) and School Employees (PreK-12). For the full qualifying list and the documents that prove your educator status, the page sends you to ID.me, and that’s where to check if your role isn’t obvious from those three.

On sharing, the FAQ answer is no: only qualifying, eligible individuals who have been verified through ID.me may use the discount, so each person on your team needs to verify on their own. The same page says educators, nurses, medical providers and military members earn 15% off every time they shop.

What The 15% Doesn’t Cover

The page says the discount applies to regularly priced items. It isn’t valid on sale items, promotion excluded items, furniture, gift cards, gift bundles, tax or shipping. It also says discounts cannot be combined with any other promotion or discount, so a sale code and the educator discount aren’t meant to be used on the same order. The page adds that Melissa & Doug reserves the right to change or remove a product from this promotion at any time without prior notice, and that other restrictions may apply.

The page calls the covered items “select products” and doesn’t list them, so open the product you want and check the price at checkout before you count on the 15%.

Free Printables And A Teacher’s Gift Guide

Further down, the same page carries a block titled Calling All Teachers: Introducing Our New, Free Classroom Printables, described as a free collection of skill-building activity sheets for hands-on learning fun. It also links a holiday gift guide in which kindergarten teacher Hannah Brown Tronske shares her educator-approved holiday gift product picks. Neither of those is a discount.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

ID.me’s own shop page for Melissa & Doug says it isn’t aware that Melissa & Doug offers Teachers discounts. Melissa & Doug’s page is the one that names the program and sends educators to ID.me to verify, so that’s the page we followed. In the educator terms we read, there’s no start or end date and no mention of Black Friday or Cyber Monday. We didn’t place an order, so we haven’t seen the 15% applied at checkout.
