LEGOLAND gives teachers up to 35% off theme park tickets, and teachers in Florida can pick up a pass that covers a whole year. Which offer you get depends on which LEGOLAND you’re planning to visit, so it helps to sort out the difference before you book anything.
The theme parks are the big resorts. LEGOLAND Florida sits about 45 minutes from Orlando and Tampa and has more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. LEGOLAND California is about 30 minutes north of San Diego with more than 60, and LEGOLAND New York is in Goshen, in the Hudson Valley, roughly 60 miles northwest of New York City. LEGOLAND Discovery Centers are the smaller city attractions, and each one runs its own offers, which is why the answer changes from one center to the next.
How To Get The LEGOLAND Teacher Discount
At all three theme parks, you verify your teacher status through ID.me during checkout and take up to 35% off 1-day tickets. There’s one rule that catches people at every park: LEGOLAND says discounted tickets are online only and can’t be purchased or verified at the gate. Showing a school ID at the ticket window won’t get you the price, so book before you drive.
Florida adds something bigger. The Florida Teacher Pass is for Florida resident teachers in grades PreK through 12, and the standard pass is free. LEGOLAND’s offer page says teachers get in free to LEGOLAND Florida, Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando and The Orlando Eye for a whole year, and our SEA LIFE Orlando teacher discount page covers that stop in more detail. The standard pass has select blockout days at the theme park and doesn’t include the Water Park. If you want the Water Park, the Teacher Park Combo Pass costs $59.99 plus tax. Both versions list accommodation discounts at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.
To prove you qualify, LEGOLAND asks you to bring your most recent paystub, a current Florida photo ID and a valid FDOE Professional or Temporary Certificate to the ticket window. Private school teachers bring a letter from the school principal on official letterhead, along with the ID and paystub. If you’d rather not make the trip just to sign up, LEGOLAND’s page says the free standard pass can also be requested by email, and to allow 48 to 72 hours for a response.
A few more details are worth knowing. The pass expires one year from the date of first use, not the date you collect it. It’s non-transferable and issued in your name with your photo, so a colleague can’t borrow it, and it can’t be redeemed online. If you already bought an annual pass, LEGOLAND says it won’t refund you, but it will add one year of standard admission to the pass you have.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Teacher Offers
The Discovery Centers handle teachers differently, with a Teacher Appreciation event that runs for one month rather than a year-round discount. San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth ran theirs for the whole of one summer month, and Chicago and Washington DC ran theirs for the whole of the month after. The dated pages we read have all ended, and we couldn’t confirm when any center will run its next one, so check your center’s events page before you plan around it.
The terms were the same at each center. Teachers got free entry, and friends and family got 30% off, up to six guests. The catch is easy to miss: to redeem a free teacher ticket, you must buy a 30% off Friends and Family ticket, and the booking won’t complete without one. You also have to show a Teacher Employer ID or pay stub at admissions, tickets were limited and had to be booked online in advance, and adults had to be accompanied by a child aged 17 or younger. In other words, it’s a day out with your own kids, a niece or nephew, or a friend’s family, rather than a quiet solo scouting trip.
Dallas/Fort Worth also hosted a Teacher Open House on a single evening, with free admission for a teacher and one guest after registering. You had to be able to show proof of employment at a school district, private school or homeschool co-op, and each guest was entered to win a free field trip and workshop for a class of up to 30 kids. If you’re thinking about bringing your class, that’s the kind of event worth watching for.
Philadelphia’s offers page lists a dated Teacher Appreciation event with the same free teacher entry and 30% off for up to six guests. For Atlanta, Boston, Michigan and Toronto, the offers pages we read list sales, military discounts and advance booking deals, and none of them mention teachers, so we couldn’t confirm a teacher offer there. Atlanta, Boston and Washington DC use the LEGO Discovery Center name rather than LEGOLAND.
Planning a class trip instead of a personal visit? San Antonio’s school page says one adult or teacher gets in free for every 5 paying students, with a minimum of 10 students to get school pricing. Other centers publish their own group rules, so ask yours.
Q&A
Does LEGOLAND have a teacher discount?
Yes. LEGOLAND Florida, California and New York list up to 35% off tickets for teachers, verified through ID.me. Florida also offers the Florida Teacher Pass for eligible Florida teachers.
Can I show my school ID at the gate?
Not at the theme parks. LEGOLAND says discounted tickets are online only and can’t be purchased or verified at the gate. At a Discovery Center event, you show a Teacher Employer ID or pay stub at admissions, but you still book online in advance.
Who qualifies for the Florida Teacher Pass?
Teachers currently certified by FDOE and working in Florida, in grades PreK through 12. Private school teachers bring a principal’s letter on school letterhead.
Is there a LEGOLAND in Texas?
LEGOLAND’s list of its other parks names California and New York in the US and no park in Texas. Texas does have LEGOLAND Discovery Centers in San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth, which follow the Discovery Center events above.
Do the Discovery Centers have a year-round teacher discount?
We couldn’t confirm one. The teacher offers we found were events dated to a single month, plus a one-evening open house in Dallas/Fort Worth.
Does the Florida pass include a hotel discount?
LEGOLAND’s pass page lists accommodation discounts at LEGOLAND Florida Resort for both pass versions. Check the details when you book, since the page doesn’t spell out the amount.
I’m looking for LEGO sets, not tickets. Is that here?
No, LEGO sets are a separate offer. We cover them on our LEGO teacher discount page.
