LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND has teacher offers, and which one you get depends entirely on which LEGOLAND you mean. The name covers three different kinds of place, and they run different programs:

  • The big theme parks in Florida, California and New York: up to 35% off tickets, verified through ID.me.
  • LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, the smaller indoor attractions in cities like Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Boston, Michigan and Schaumburg: teacher appreciation events with free entry for the teacher and a discount for guests.
  • LEGOLAND Florida specifically, which on top of the 35% runs a Florida Teacher Pass giving a full year of free admission across four Central Florida attractions.

Get the category right first, because the claim process is different for each and none of them can be sorted out at the gate.

The Theme Parks: Up To 35% Off, Online Only

LEGOLAND Florida, California and New York all run the same structure. Verify with ID.me at checkout and take up to 35% off tickets.

The limit that catches people is the same at all three, in LEGOLAND’s own words: “Discounted tickets are available online only and cannot be purchased or verified at the gate.” Turning up at the ticket window with a school ID does not work. Buy before you travel.

The Florida Teacher Pass: A Free Year, With Conditions

This is the largest teacher offer LEGOLAND runs anywhere, and it is narrow. LEGOLAND’s wording: “Florida Resident Teachers (Grades PreK-12), pick up your Teacher Pass”, for “a year of free admission” covering LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando and The Orlando Eye.

Two conditions decide whether it applies to you. It is for Florida residents teaching PreK through 12, and the pass is “valid for one year from the date of first use” rather than from the date you collect it. LEGOLAND frames it as a way to scout the attractions before booking a field trip, which is worth knowing if you are asked to justify it.

Discovery Centers: Free Entry, But You Must Buy a Guest Ticket

The Discovery Centers run teacher appreciation events rather than a year-round discount, and the terms are unusual enough to read twice. At a recent San Antonio event teachers got free entry plus 30% off for friends and family, up to six guests.

Here is the catch, quoted from the attraction: “To redeem a free teacher ticket, you must purchase a 30% off Friends and Family ticket. It will not allow you to complete the transaction without one.” So the free ticket is not free-standing. You cannot go alone on it.

Two more practical points: you “must provide Teacher Employer ID or Pay Stub at admissions”, and tickets are limited and must be booked online in advance. Discovery Centers also generally require that adults are accompanied by a child, which rules out a solo scouting visit.

Q&A

Q: Does LEGOLAND Florida have a teacher discount?
A: Yes, two things. Up to 35% off tickets through ID.me, and separately the Florida Teacher Pass, a free year across four attractions for Florida resident PreK-12 teachers.

Q: What about LEGOLAND California?
A: Up to 35% off, verified through ID.me at checkout, online only.

Q: Is there a LEGOLAND Texas, Michigan, Atlanta, Philadelphia or Schaumburg discount?
A: Those are LEGOLAND Discovery Centers rather than theme parks, so they follow the Discovery Center pattern: teacher appreciation events with free teacher entry and a guest discount, rather than a standing 35% off. Check your specific location’s events page, because the events run at different times of year by site.

Q: Does the discount cover a LEGOLAND hotel stay?
A: The teacher offers described here are admission tickets. Hotel rooms are booked separately and are not part of the ticket discount, so price accommodation on its own.

Q: Can I just show my school ID at the gate?
A: Not at the theme parks. LEGOLAND states the discounted tickets are online only and cannot be verified at the gate. At Discovery Center events it is the reverse: you show an employer ID or pay stub at admissions, but you still book online in advance.

Q: Do substitute teachers qualify for the Florida Teacher Pass?
A: LEGOLAND publishes a separate answer for substitutes in its Florida help center, so check that before traveling rather than assuming the main rule covers you.

Q: Do I need to be a Florida resident for the 35% off?
A: No. The residency condition applies to the free Teacher Pass, not to the ticket discount.

Other Days Out Worth Checking

If you are planning a trip around Central Florida, the Teacher Pass already covers Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando and The Orlando Eye, so check what it includes before buying any of them separately.

More Information:

Confirmed on LEGOLAND’s own teacher offer pages for Florida, California and New York, its Florida help center article on the Teacher Pass, and a Discovery Center teacher appreciation page. Event dates and terms change by location, so check your specific park or center before booking.
