IKEA doesn’t list a nationwide teacher discount. The one teacher offer we found on IKEA’s own site is a coupon on the IKEA Centennial store page, for IKEA Family members who show a teacher or educator ID, at that store only, and its validity window had closed when we checked. What a teacher can get at IKEA is cash back, the same as any other shopper: Fluz sells IKEA gift cards with 6% cashback, TopCashback’s page says “Get up to 4% of the price back,” and Rakuten’s is titled with 2% Cash Back.
If you’re pricing flexible seating for a reading corner or shelves for the supply closet, it helps to know that before you stand at the checkout looking for a teacher price that isn’t there. We read IKEA’s own pages and the three cash back sites, and here’s what each one says.
How To Get The IKEA Teacher Discount
There’s no nationwide teacher discount to claim, so there’s no code to enter and no verification step. We read IKEA’s Offers Hub, its campaigns page, its customer service FAQ and its education furnishings page, and none of them has teacher or educator wording. ID.me’s IKEA page says “We’re not aware that Ikea offers Teachers discounts.”
The exception is the Centennial coupon. The fine print on the store page for IKEA Centennial, CO says it’s “for IKEA Family members who show their teacher or educator ID at checkout or in Swedish Restaurant,” and that you must “show proof of eligibility (i.e. teacher, professor, principal ID).” It adds “Not valid online or on previous purchases,” “LIMIT: One coupon per IKEA Family number” and “Cannot be combined with other IKEA offers or coupons.” The fine print also gives a validity window, and the window had closed when we checked. The page doesn’t say the coupon ended, so we went by the dates in its fine print.
The cash back is the part that’s open to everyone, teachers included. The button below goes to Fluz, which lists the highest number of the three, with one catch: it’s cash back for buying a gift card.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
Fluz’s IKEA page is titled “IKEA gift cards with 6% cashback.” Fluz says “Anyone who creates a Fluz account can purchase a gift card,” and the card “will be delivered digitally to your Fluz account.” To use it online, the page says “Simply enter the gift card number and PIN during checkout,” and in a store you “show your gift card barcode and PIN.” It also says “Gift Card value may not be available for use for 48-hours after purchase,” so buy the card ahead of the day you plan to shop.
TopCashback’s IKEA page says “Get up to 4% of the price back with our IKEA Cash Back offers” and “Sign up for free and just shop at IKEA as normal.” Its exclusions list “Purchase or redemption of a IKEA gift card” and “Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback,” and its terms say cash back is “calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees.” On Safari it says “we cannot guarantee that your Cash Back will track for this retailer,” so use another browser.
Rakuten’s IKEA page is titled “IKEA Coupons, Promo Codes & 2% Cash Back.” Its terms say “Cash Back is not available on gift cards or purchases made with gift cards,” and “Cash Back is only available on orders completed through the IKEA US site.” It also says “Using coupon codes that are not listed on Rakuten may void Cash Back.”
Because Rakuten and TopCashback both exclude gift cards, a Fluz gift card and either of those two don’t stack on one order, so pick one route for each purchase. Rates change, so read the percentage on the page the day you order.
IKEA Family And Classroom Orders
IKEA’s FAQ says “IKEA Family is our free loyalty program,” and the Centennial coupon was for its members only. For a whole classroom, the education furnishings page is headed “School furniture and STEM toys” and says “Speak to an IKEA Business Specialist today.” The FAQ says “We do not offer discounts on bulk purchases,” and the IKEA Business Network terms describe that program as “specifically designed for micro and small businesses.” We didn’t find a school or teacher price on any of those pages.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We read the Centennial store page and no other store’s, so we can’t say whether another IKEA is running a teacher coupon, or whether Centennial will run its coupon again. We also didn’t place an order or sign up for any of the cash back routes, so we can’t say how long the cash back takes to show up.
