Hilton 🚫

Hilton doesn’t have a teacher discount. ID.me says it isn’t aware of one, and Hilton’s own offers page lists rates from advance-purchase savings to senior, AAA and military pricing, without a single mention of teachers, educators or school employees. If you belong to the American Federation of Teachers, though, there’s a real 12% rate waiting through your union, and a few of Hilton’s other offers may fit your trip for reasons that have nothing to do with teaching.

The rates worth comparing are all public, so you can check them yourself before you book. Hilton posts its current deals on its offers page, and ID.me’s page for the company is the place to see whether a teacher verification program exists. Both come back the same way for teachers: nothing.

How To Get The Hilton Teacher Discount

There’s no teacher code, no ID check and no educator rate to ask for at the front desk. What you can do is match your situation to the discount that does exist. Here’s how to work through it.

  1. If you’re an AFT member, use the 12% rate. AFT’s hotel discounts page lists 12% off chain-wide at all global Hilton hotels, subject to availability, and it’s booked online only, through the AFL-CIO Preferred Rates page on Hilton’s site. AFT’s page prints the corporate code you use to get in.
  2. If you’re not a member, check whether an advance booking helps. Hilton lists an Honors Discount Advance Purchase offer of up to 17% off its Best Available Rate for booking in advance.
  3. Check the other rates on Hilton’s offers page against who’s traveling with you. AAA and CAA members can save up to 10%, seniors and their families up to 6% off the Best Available Rate, and active and retired military, veterans and their families get savings at participating hotels.
  4. If you’re staying three nights or more, look at Stay Longer & Save. Hilton says it’s 10% off at participating hotels across the United States, with a three-night minimum.

The AFT Route In More Detail

If you’re a union teacher, this is the Hilton discount to look at first, and it comes from AFT, not from Hilton. AFT says the rate covers Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Conrad, Waldorf, Embassy Suites, Doubletree, Homewood Suites and Hampton by Hilton, along with others on its list.

There’s one thing to check before you count on it. AFT describes the rate as applying at all global Hilton hotels, while Hilton’s own page for the AFL-CIO program talks about discount and negotiated rates at participating hotels in its portfolio of brands. If the hotel you want doesn’t show the rate when you sign in through that page, check with Hilton or the hotel before you count on it. Our AFT Membership post covers what else comes with dues.

What About Hilton All-Inclusive Resorts?

ID.me has a storefront page for Hilton All-Inclusive Resorts saying teachers and educators can save on their next stay at a Hilton All-Inclusive resort. It gives no percentage, and the matching ID.me offer page no longer loads, so nothing on ID.me confirms it’s an active offer. Don’t plan a resort trip around it without asking the resort what rate applies to you.

Q&A

Does Hilton have a teacher discount?
No. ID.me’s page for Hilton says it isn’t aware of any teacher discounts, and Hilton’s offers page has no teacher or educator rate.

Do Hampton, Doubletree and Embassy Suites have one?
ID.me’s page for Hilton says it isn’t aware of any teacher discounts, and Hilton’s offers page doesn’t mention teachers. AFT’s 12% rate names all three among the brands it covers, but it’s a union benefit, not a teacher rate.

How much can an AFT member save at Hilton?
AFT lists 12% off chain-wide, subject to availability, through the AFL-CIO Preferred Rates page on Hilton’s site.

Can I book the AFT rate by phone?
AFT’s page says the Hilton rate is online only. It gives a phone number for the Wyndham option, not for Hilton.

How much does booking in advance save?
Hilton’s Honors Discount Advance Purchase offer says up to 17% off its Best Available Rate for booking in advance. It’s an advance-purchase offer, not a teacher rate.

Is there a Hilton discount for AAA members?
Yes. Hilton’s offers page says AAA and CAA members can save up to 10%.

Where else could a teacher look?
Hotels.com has a real teacher discount through ID.me, and our Hotels.com post explains it.

More Information:

ID.me’s page for Hilton, Hilton’s offers page and the AFL-CIO Preferred Rates page on Hilton’s site list the terms above, and AFT’s hotel discounts page describes the union rate. Hilton’s rates and offers change, so confirm the figure on the page before you book.
