The savings are in the field trip route. The aquarium’s groups page opens with “Welcome teachers and leaders!” and points to a field trip guide, and that guide sets one flat rate for any group of 20 or more: $23.00 per attendee, with students, teachers, group leaders and chaperones all included. That’s below the adult price and a little under the child price, so the adults on the trip pay less than they would walking in alone. Groups smaller than 20 don’t qualify, and the guide says plainly that the aquarium can’t offer further discounted rates for groups, including Title 1 schools. Tax-exempt groups are honored with documentation.
The booking rules are firm, so they’re worth reading before a date goes on the calendar. Reservations are taken by date and arrival time, first come, first served, with arrivals from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm. Full payment is due within four weeks of booking by credit card or by school or company check. Purchase orders aren’t accepted, payments are non-refundable, and the headcount can go up after payment but not down. If the school can’t pay for parent chaperones, the aquarium can write a second invoice for them at the same group rate, and a parent who walks in separately pays full price.
