The garden offers an exciting roster of educational programs for both adults and children, including nature preschool, garden-based science exploration, career exploration programs and outdoor discovery experiences for students ages 2-18. Teachers and their students can select classes that complement classroom curriculum while fulfilling Illinois State Teacher Certification requirements.

Under the new admission system, visitors will be charged higher prices during peak attendance periods (e.g. a Cubs game against Milwaukee in summer) while lower costs at other times of year. Garden members, teachers/self-guided school groups/active duty military personnel and Illinois LINK cardholders remain exempt from being charged admission and parking fees; additionally 52 free admission days will remain.

Britt Calendo serves as Program Director of the Garden’s Apprenticeship, Corps and Youth Farm programs which offer young people career mentorship, field ecology and conservation science instruction, college prep assistance and assistance, career mentoring services as well as college preparation assistance. She joined our staff in 2014 at Rodeo Farm as Harvest Corps crew leader before later taking up positions such as PCC Austin Youth Farm Coordinator and VeggieRx Manager – she brings both social work and public health experience with sustainable urban agriculture to this rewarding career field!
