Booking.com 💵

Booking Com Booking Com

Booking.com doesn’t have a teacher discount, and ID.me says so in plain words: “We’re not aware that Booking.com offers Teachers discounts.” What it does have is a free loyalty program that any traveler can join, and ID.me lists a cash back rate that isn’t limited to teachers, so there are still a couple of real ways to save on a summer trip.

Booking.com’s About page describes the company as one of the world’s leading digital travel companies, based in Amsterdam and part of Booking Holdings Inc. It says the site offers more than 28 million reported accommodation listings, including over 6.6 million homes, apartments and other unique places to stay, with customer support around the clock.

How To Get The Booking.com Teacher Discount

There isn’t a teacher code to enter, and no school ID lowers the price. ID.me doesn’t know of a teacher offer, and neither Booking.com’s About page nor its Genius page mentions one.

The discount open to you is Genius, Booking.com’s loyalty program. Its Genius page says creating a free Booking.com account is enough to reach Level 1, and the higher levels are earned by booking:

  • Level 1 is the free account itself: 10% off select stays and select rental cars.
  • Level 2 comes after five bookings within two years. It brings 10-15% off select stays and rental cars, plus free breakfasts and free room upgrades on select stays.
  • Level 3 comes after 15 bookings within two years, with 10-20% off stays, 10-15% off select rental cars, and priority support on all stays.

The page adds that discounts come off the price before taxes and fees and apply automatically, with no code. The percentage varies by property, so two members at different levels can see the same discount at some places. A reservation counts as one booking however many nights or rooms it covers, and cruises, insurance, ride hail and public transit don’t count toward your progress.

The Cash Back ID.me Lists For Everyone

ID.me’s Booking.com page is titled “Booking.com Discounts and Cash Back for Everyone,” and it shows up to 3.0% cash back for any ID.me member. Teachers don’t get a separate rate. The lines are flights at up to $1.00, attractions at up to 2.0%, and two car rental lines: Cars Pay Local at up to 1.9% and Cars Pay Now at up to 3.0%.

A hotel or apartment stay isn’t on that list, so don’t assume the 3.0% headline follows you to a room booking. ID.me says coupons and promotional codes not from ID.me may void cash back and that additional restrictions may apply. It doesn’t say whether a Genius discount counts against that, so check the offer screen before you book. Rates change, so confirm the current number on ID.me first.

Where A Percentage Off A Hotel Does Exist For Teachers

If a lower price at checkout matters more to you, ID.me lists 10% off select hotels for teachers at Expedia and 10% off for teachers at Hotels.com, each with a $40 maximum on ID.me’s pages. Priceline, which names Booking Holdings as its parent too, has no teacher offer on ID.me.

Q&A

Does Booking.com have a teacher discount?
No. ID.me says it isn’t aware of one, and Booking.com’s Genius and About pages don’t mention a teacher rate.

How do I join Genius?
Create a free Booking.com account. The Genius page says that alone gets you Level 1.

Does Genius work at every property?
Only at participating ones. The Genius page cites 850,000 participating properties, and Genius options carry a blue Genius label in the results.

Does Booking.com charge booking fees?
Its About page says it doesn’t charge booking fees or add administrative charges, and that in many cases a booking can be canceled free of charge. Check the cancellation terms on the room you pick.

Can I trust the reviews?
Booking.com says the only way to leave a review is to make a booking first, and that it verifies the authenticity of reviews before adding them. That’s its own description of the process.

More Information:

ID.me’s Booking.com discount page is the source for the missing teacher offer, and its store page for the cash back lines and restrictions. Booking.com’s Genius page supplied the loyalty levels and rules, and its About page supplied the listing counts, fees and reviews wording. The Expedia and Hotels.com figures come from their ID.me store pages. Terms and rates can change, so confirm on the source pages before you book.
