How To Get The AT&T Teacher Discount
AT&T’s teacher page says teachers can save up to 20% on its most popular unlimited plans. The button on that page opens a short eligibility form. It says active K-12 classroom teachers and college or university professors and instructors based in the U.S. may be eligible for exclusive discounts, and you can enter your details online or call to speak to an AT&T expert.
The form asks where you work, your work email address, your first and last name, the ZIP code where you’re licensed, and whether you currently have AT&T Wireless service. It adds a note that the name you use to qualify should be the name on your account or, if you’re a new customer, the same name you’ll use to create one. We didn’t see ID.me or SheerID named anywhere on the form, so it looks like AT&T checks you itself. The fine print on the teacher page says the discount requires proof of eligibility and eligible plans.
The Rate Depends On Your Plan
The fine print on the teacher page spells out the tiers: 20% on Premium 2.0, 15% on Extra 2.0 and 10% on Value 2.0 plan lines of service. So the 20% in the headline belongs to the priciest of the three. If you’re on Value 2.0 today, you’d get 10%, and it’s worth running your own bill before you decide whether moving up a plan to chase a bigger percentage makes sense.
ID.me’s AT&T Mobility store page mentions it too, saying teachers and their families can learn how to save up to 20% on AT&T’s best wireless plans, with eligibility required. ID.me’s separate discount page for AT&T Mobility says it isn’t aware that AT&T Mobility offers Teachers discounts, which is why we sent you to AT&T’s own form and not to an ID.me account.
What About Home Internet And Fiber?
The same teacher page shows an AT&T Fiber and wireless bundle, with $420 in savings for new customers based on combined discounts of $35/mo. on 5-GIG internet with eligible wireless service and eligible AutoPay and a paperless bill, in limited areas. That’s a bundle price tied to wireless, and AT&T describes it as for new customers. It’s not a teacher rate. The page also says you’ll need to shop for wireless first before signing up for fiber.
How It Compares To Verizon And T-Mobile
Verizon’s teacher page says its mobile price includes a 10% monthly discount applied to each eligible line, and it checks teachers through ID.me. See our Verizon post. T-Mobile’s educator page lists 15% off Experience More or Experience Beyond plans on up to 5 voice lines, and it only works if your employer partners with T-Mobile Work Perks. What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t submit the form, so we can’t say which documents AT&T accepts as proof, or what happens if you don’t have a school email. The page heading reads “Teachers and your families,” and the eligibility form speaks only of teachers, so we couldn’t tell whether family members’ lines qualify. We also didn’t find a cash back route for AT&T wireless.
