ABCmouse for Teachers is a free classroom account, not a discounted one. ABCmouse’s teacher page says it’s completely free for teachers, with no credit card and no ads, and its support article says the free accounts are for individual teachers and educators of public schools, private schools and Head Start programs in the U.S. and Canada, for classroom and in-school purposes only.
If you teach PreK through second grade and want something for centers, early finishers or practice at home, here’s what the free account includes, how the sign-up works and where it stops.
How To Get The ABCmouse Teacher Discount
There’s no code or percentage to claim, because the account itself costs nothing. You create it on the ABCmouse for Teachers page. Its sign-up asks for your school information, and the support article lists it as your school name (searchable by ZIP code), school type, district and country. The sign-up then asks whether you’re sure it’s a school address, tells you ABCmouse for Teachers is for classroom use only and offers a button that reads “Yes, send me my code.”
We didn’t see ID.me, SheerID or GovX anywhere in the sign-up pages. We didn’t create an account ourselves, so we can’t tell you what the code is for or what the dashboard looks like after you’re in.
What The Free Account Includes
The teacher page promises unlimited access to its complete library of over 13,000 activities. It says you can browse and assign activities to your whole class by grade, subject or skill, for in-class use or at-home practice, and that you can instantly roster your class. For families, it says you can send home printable worksheets and that students get free at-home access to assignments.
Who Qualifies
The sign-up page and the support article use the same sentence: the free accounts are for individual teachers and educators of public schools, private schools and Head Start programs in the U.S. and Canada, and they’re to be used for classroom and in-school purposes only. The teacher page describes the curriculum as made for PreK through 2nd grade teachers.
Homeschool teachers aren’t named anywhere on the pages we read. The sign-up page says to visit www.ABCmouse.com to create a family account, which is a different product from this one, and we didn’t see a teacher rate mentioned for it.
What The ABCmouse Classic Articles Say
ABCmouse’s support center also carries articles for ABCmouse Classic, and the support article for the free teacher program says it works alongside ABCmouse, the early learning program for children ages 2 to 8. Two details in the Classic articles are worth knowing. Through its Classroom Rewards program, you earn 5 points for each family that subscribes to ABCmouse Classic using your classroom code, and the points can be redeemed for gift cards once you earn 25. The same article says a free classroom-linked account will not give students full access to ABCmouse Classic.
The current teacher page doesn’t mention Classroom Rewards, so we can’t say whether it applies to a free ABCmouse for Teachers account today. Earning those points depends on families choosing to pay for a subscription, which is a different thing from a classroom discount.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We couldn’t confirm whether a homeschool teacher or a tutor can sign up, since the pages only name public schools, private schools and Head Start programs. We also couldn’t see what happens after you ask for your code, because we didn’t create an account.
