HBO Max doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find. The one discount it publishes is a student offer for people enrolled in college, and the route we could confirm for teachers is cash back: Fluz lists 1.5% at HBO Max with a Fluz virtual card.
If you’ve been paying full price for a few months of Friday-night shows and want to knock a little off, here’s what HBO Max says about its prices and discounts, and where the cash back sits.
How To Get The HBO Max Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher rate to claim. HBO Max’s student discount page says to save 50% with its student discount, and it shows HBO Max Basic With Ads for just $10.99 against a student price of $5.49/month. The fine print says the discount is for HBO Max direct-billed subscribers (18+) whose U.S. accredited college or university enrollment status has been verified through UNiDAYS, and that the discounted subscription renews each month for up to 12 months unless you cancel.
That page has no teacher or educator wording in our read of it. If you’re also taking college classes, the offer is written for enrolled students, so that’s the version to read before you decide. For everyone else, the button below goes to Fluz, the cash back route we could confirm.
What HBO Max Costs
HBO Max’s plans and prices page lists three plans. Basic with Ads is $10.99/month or $109.99/year, Standard is $18.49/month and Premium is $22.99/month. Its savings page says you save $21 by paying for the Basic With Ads yearly plan at $109.99/year instead of paying monthly, which is a way to pay less without any discount code.
The help center describes the service as bringing all the iconic programming that you love about HBO together with an even deeper library. If you’re deciding whether the ad-supported plan is enough for how you watch, those three prices are the ones to compare.
What Each Cash Back Source Says
Fluz lists 1.5% cashback at HBO Max with a Fluz virtual card. TopCashback’s address for HBO Max loads a general category page and its address for Max loads a sign-up page, so we found no TopCashback store page. Rakuten’s address for HBO Max loads a general page instead of a store page, so there’s no Rakuten rate to report. Rates change, so check the number on Fluz before you pay.
One thing to look at before you plan around it: HBO Max’s help center says not all payment methods are accepted for recurring subscriptions. We didn’t try paying HBO Max with a Fluz card, so check that it’s accepted before you switch how you pay.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t open a Fluz account or pay HBO Max with a Fluz card, so we can’t tell you whether the subscription accepts it or whether the 1.5% shows up on a recurring charge. HBO Max may offer teachers something that isn’t published on its student page, and its help center is the place to ask.
This post’s address still says HBO Go. HBO Max’s student page and its All about HBO Max help page don’t mention HBO Go, and the help page lists Max Originals among what you can watch. We didn’t find a page on HBO Max’s own site that lays out how its names relate, so we’re not saying more than that.
