DIRECTV doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find. ID.me says it isn’t aware of one, and nothing on DIRECTV’s own website points to one. The savings we could confirm are cash back for new customers: Rakuten lists up to $75, TopCashback has a DIRECTV page, and Fluz lists 1.5% with a Fluz virtual card.
If you’re a teacher who’s tired of a cable bill and you’re weighing satellite or streaming TV, cash back is the saving we could confirm. Here’s what we looked at, and where the gaps are.
How To Get The DIRECTV Teacher Discount
There isn’t a standing one to get. ID.me’s DIRECTV page says “We’re not aware that DIRECTV offers Teachers discounts.” We also read DIRECTV’s home page, and it has no teacher or educator wording on it.
Because a home page can leave things out, we also read the lists of pages DIRECTV publishes for search engines. Its main page list has 98 addresses, its support list has 405 and its legal list has 87, and none of them has teacher, educator, military or discount in the address. A teacher program would normally have a page of its own, so we don’t think one is hiding there. If you want to be sure for your own account, DIRECTV’s customer service line is the place to ask, and getting any answer in writing is worth it.
The button below goes to TopCashback, where we found a DIRECTV page.
What Each Cash Back Source Says
Rakuten’s DIRECTV page says “Up to $75 Cash Back,” and lists $27.5 for the DIRECTV streaming app only. Its terms are worth reading before you sign up: cash back is only for new users and on the first payment of a subscription plan, and the subscription has to be maintained for at least two consecutive months.
TopCashback has a DIRECTV page and a DIRECTV STREAM page. We couldn’t read a rate on either. Fluz lists 1.5% cashback at DirecTV with a Fluz virtual card, which is the one to look at if you’re already a customer, since Rakuten’s offer is for new users. Rates change, so check the number on the portal before you pay.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t call DIRECTV, so we can’t say whether a representative could offer a school or educator rate on request. We also didn’t place an order, so we don’t know which Rakuten amount applies to a particular package.
