Abt Electronics says verified teachers get a promo code through ID.me, and its page states the benefit two ways. The opening offer text says the code is good for $50 off of your purchase of $500 or more, and the page’s FAQ says Abt does offer teacher discounts at 10% off the retail price (some exclusions apply). The $50 code leads the page, but the page doesn’t say which figure you’ll get, so the cart is where you’ll find out. Abt ties the verification to its online checkout: you verify through ID.me during the checkout process, using a box in your shopping cart.
If you’re pricing out something big for the classroom or the house, keep the $500 line in mind, because that’s where the $50 code starts. The code is a one-time code, so it pays to build the whole cart before you verify.
How To Get The Abt Electronics Teacher Discount
On Abt’s discount page, you add the items you’d like to buy to your cart. Once they’re in the shopping cart, you select the box for the “Military, Student, and Teacher Discount” and click the ID.me verification button. If you qualify, ID.me gives you a unique one-time coupon code to use during that purchase.
Abt says some exclusions apply and that they’ll be listed once your code is entered in the promo code field in the shopping cart. The page doesn’t list them ahead of time, so enter the code before you commit to a particular item. The page doesn’t say whether the discount works in a store, so if you’d rather shop in person, call Abt at 800-860-3577 first.
Who Counts As A Teacher
Abt’s page lists these under Teacher Discount: Certified Teachers, Certified Teachers Aides, Certified Teaching Assistants, Certified Educational Assistants, Lifetime Teaching Credential Holders, College/University Professors, Speech Pathologists, and School Administrators (Principals, Assistant Principals, etc). So the list reaches past classroom teachers to aides, credential holders and school leaders. It doesn’t say whether public and private school staff both count.
The $50 Code And The 10%
Both figures sit on the same page. The opening text says verified teachers receive a unique promo code good for $50 off of your purchase of $500 or more, and the page’s headline offer reads SAVE $50 OFF $500. Further down, the FAQ answers its teacher question with 10% off the retail price (some exclusions apply). The first responder answer right above it gives the 10% and the $50 code together, joined by “or,” and the teacher answer gives only the 10%.
We can’t tell you which one your cart will apply. What the page does say is that the exclusions show up once the code is entered, so the cart is the one place where the real terms appear.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The page gives two figures for teachers and doesn’t reconcile them, so we can’t say whether you’ll see $50 off $500 or 10% off. It doesn’t list the exclusions, doesn’t say whether the discount works in a store, and doesn’t say whether the code can be used together with other promotions. We didn’t verify through ID.me or place an order.
