Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach doesn’t list a discount for an individual teacher on the pages we found. What it does list is a school field trip rate table with a line for SC/NC teachers at FREE, and a policy that one teacher is admitted free of charge for every 10 students in attendance.

If you’re planning a class trip, the rates below are the part to read. If you teach your own kids at home, the aquarium has a separate page for homeschool families, and it’s further down.

How To Get The Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach Teacher Discount

There’s no individual teacher discount to claim, so a teacher’s route is a field trip reservation. The field trips page says field trips are self-guided and include access to a range of animal and interactive galleries and daily experiences throughout the aquarium. Its Pricing tab lists $12.00 per student in grades K-12, $5.50 per preschool-aged student, and $15.00 per chaperone, with the teacher line reading Per SC/NC Teacher: FREE. It adds that discounts are available for Title I schools.

The Policies tab says one teacher will be admitted free of charge for every 10 students in attendance, and that there’s a 10-guest minimum to receive the discounted rates.

To reserve, the Policies tab says field trip reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. You send a field trip request form, and the aquarium will reach out to confirm your reservation. Payment is due upon arrival, unless otherwise noted, in one lump sum, and the page says cash, credit cards and company checks are accepted.

Lunches And Classroom Programs

The page says classroom programs and cafeteria-style lunches can be added on to field trip reservations for small additional fees. The Add-Ons tab lists a lunch of a slice of cheese pizza, chips and a drink at $8 per meal, with discounts available for Title I schools. Lunches must be reserved in advance and can’t be guaranteed, and lunch orders are due no later than 72 hours in advance by emailing mbeducation@ripleys.com. The Policies tab says reservations for classroom programs are also required in advance and can’t be guaranteed.

Visiting On Your Own

We didn’t find a separate teacher rate for an individual visit. The aquarium does have a Homeschool Families page, which says homeschool families are invited to visit at special rates, offered only at the ticket counter. It lists $6 plus tax per Pre-K student, $15 plus tax per K-12 grade student and $25 plus tax per adult.

The page says you must provide a letter of intent, attendance record or homeschool ID card upon admission to receive the discount. It also says the discount is only available at the aquarium’s ticket counter and can’t be purchased online.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The rate table says SC/NC teacher and never spells it out. We read it as South Carolina and North Carolina, but the page doesn’t say so, and it doesn’t say what a teacher from a school in another state would pay, so ask before you book if your school is elsewhere. We also couldn’t find what the classroom programs cost, since the page calls the fees small and gives no amount, or how much the Title I discount takes off.
