Tidal doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find. Its support center describes a student discount and a Cash App offer, and the route we could confirm for teachers is cash back: Fluz lists 6% back when you buy a TIDAL gift card.
If you want lossless music for grading weekends and you’re deciding whether any of it gets cheaper for a teacher, here’s what Tidal publishes about its discounts and how the gift card route works.
How To Get The Tidal Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher rate to claim. Tidal’s Student Plan support article says Tidal offers a discount on subscriptions for eligible college and U.S. high school students aged 16 years or older. It says you verify your eligibility through SheerID, that each new sign-up includes a 30-day free trial before the discounted rate applies, and that discounted accounts must reverify every 11 months. The article has no teacher or educator wording in our read of it, and searching Tidal’s support center for discount brings up 4 articles, none of them about teachers.
If you’re also a college student, that article is the one to read. It also says subscribers on a Tidal Family Plan aren’t eligible, and that the discounted plan is only available when you sign up directly through Tidal, not through Apple or Google. For everyone else, the button below goes to Fluz, the cash back route we could confirm.
What Tidal Costs
We couldn’t read tidal.com. Its pages returned an HTTP 403 error to our requests, so we aren’t quoting a plan price here. Tidal’s Subscription Price Update article says Tidal updated its subscription pricing, and points to tidal.com/pricing for the current numbers, which is where to check before you buy. Any price you saw before the update may be out of date.
The same article describes a Cash App offer: eligible U.S. customers on the Tidal Individual or Tidal DJ Individual plan can receive 25% off the updated monthly price for 12 months by signing up through it. It adds that a new customer who chooses that offer won’t receive a free trial and will be charged immediately. We didn’t see the Cash App offer itself, so we can’t tell you who qualifies beyond what the article says.
What The Gift Card Terms Say
Fluz sells TIDAL e-gift cards available for $20 that are redeemable online only. Its specifications say the card is for the United States only and is non-refundable. To use it, Fluz’s instructions say to select Voucher in your Tidal account, enter your gift card code, then select Validate, and that a credit card or PayPal is needed to cover the remaining cost of your subscription.
Two lines in the terms are worth reading before you buy. The instructions say the card is only redeemable for monthly subscription services, and the terms say it can’t be used in connection with any integrated third-party billing. If you subscribe through Apple, Google or a phone carrier, that second line probably applies to you.
Other Cash Back Sources
Rakuten’s address for Tidal loads a general page instead of a store page, so there’s no Rakuten rate to report. TopCashback’s address for Tidal loads its Televisions & Audio category page instead of a store page, so we found no TopCashback rate either. Rates change, so check the number on Fluz before you buy.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t buy a Fluz card or redeem one, so we can’t say how quickly it arrives or whether it works on an account that’s still in its 30-day free trial. We also couldn’t read tidal.com, so there may be something on it for educators that Tidal’s support center doesn’t mention. Its support center is the place to ask.
