Shanty Creek

Shanty Creek Resort in Michigan has a Thursday ski offer that names educators. On its event page, the resort says it’s thanking “former and current military service members, educators, emergency personnel and service industry employees,” with $50 lift tickets and $50 rentals all day, or $24 night lift tickets and $24 night rentals. It’s a day-of, in-person deal, so there’s nothing to book ahead.

The catch is that Shanty Creek doesn’t say what an educator needs to show. If you’re planning a Thursday, bring your school ID and a pay stub and let the lift ticket window say which one it wants.

How To Get The Shanty Creek Teacher Discount

The page says “Offer is available in person at any lift ticket/rental outlet,” and that the promo isn’t available for purchase online. So the whole process is walking up to a ticket or rental counter on a Thursday and asking for Thank You Thursdays pricing. The offers page adds that advance reservations aren’t required.

The offers page lists the season window as 12/13/26 to 3/14/27, and it says the special offers aren’t valid on 12/27/26, 1/17/27 and 2/14/27. Thank You Thursdays themselves begin on the first Thursday of the new year, which the page prints as the start date.

What The Thursday Rates Are

The offers page lists $50 lift tickets and $50 rentals for all-day Thursdays. At night the price falls to $24 for a night lift ticket and $24 for night rentals. If you bring your own gear, the lift ticket price is the figure that matters.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The two pages describe the program a little differently. The event page names educators; the offers page says only that Shanty Creek shows thanks to “you, the customer,” and names no group. We couldn’t find out whether the Thursday price is open to everyone or only to the groups on the event page, what an educator has to show, or whether “educators” means K-12 teachers only. Ask at the ticket window before you drive up. The event page lists Schuss Mountain in Mancelona as the venue, so that’s where to go.
