Aspen Snowmass sells discounted season passes to teachers, with one big condition: the program is for educators who work in its own backyard. The page says teacher passes are for teachers and faculty members who work at least 20 hours a week at a licensed school in the Roaring Fork Valley, and that you need to provide school employment verification. If that’s your school, this is worth setting up before the season starts.

The page names three passes: a Premier Pass, a Flex 7-Day Pass and an Alpine 2-Day Pass. It calls them “significantly discounted” and prints no prices, so the first thing you’ll do is ask what yours costs.

How To Get The Aspen Snowmass Teacher Discount

There are three ways to buy, and the page lists them in this order. First, “Check with your School’s HR department to see if they can place your pass order on your behalf.” If your school does that, you may not need to do anything else.

Second, you can buy over the phone. Email your employment verification to contactus@aspensnowmass.com (the page says a school ID or a paystub with sensitive information redacted works), then call the Mountain Sales Call Center at 844-362-4310 to buy the pass. Third, you can go to a ticket office and present employment verification there. For the phone and the ticket office, the page says “No deadline to purchase.”

What The Passes Include

The Premier Pass is unlimited skiing and riding across all four Aspen Snowmass mountains, with no blackout dates. The Flex 7-Day Pass gives you seven days to ski or ride across Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, and the Alpine 2-Day Pass is two days per week, Monday through Sunday. Both of the smaller passes have no blackout dates either, and you can add extra days at 25% off the in-resort rate.

That makes the choice a matter of how often you’ll really go. A teacher who skis every Saturday and a teacher who picks three weekends a winter would reach for different passes, and the page lets you choose.

Who Qualifies

The wording is “teachers and faculty members who work a minimum of 20 hours per week at a licensed school located and operating within the Roaring Fork Valley.” Two parts of that matter. Your school has to be in the valley, and you have to work at least 20 hours a week there. If you’re a substitute, a part-time teacher or someone whose school sits near the edge of the valley, write to contactus@aspensnowmass.com with your situation before you plan around the pass.

If Your School Orders For You

The page says vouchers a school didn’t redeem may be returned by the school for a full refund until a date the page prints, so check that date before you count on one. After a voucher has been redeemed into a pass, the page says there’s no refund “even if the pass is never used.” Choose your pass type before you hand over your name.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

The page prints no prices, so we can’t tell you what any of the three passes costs. It doesn’t say how long verification takes or whether the school’s HR route is open at every school. It also doesn’t say whether substitutes or part-time faculty count. The page is written for this winter’s season, so check that it’s still current before you plan a purchase for a later one.
