Full disclosure: If you visit a link on this page and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

The Science Museum of Virginia is an incubator for creativity and curiosity. Visitors explore it through hands-on exhibitions and immersive experiences at this vibrant institution that offers amazing artifacts and cutting edge technologies to its thousands of annual visitors, as well as engaging science programs designed for SOL-codified grade levels targeted programs for children.

As soon as the museum opened in 1977, numerous people worked hard to bring science education to Virginians. Their efforts were part of an overall national effort that made museum learning experiences available to all citizens.

Today, the Museum continues its mission by expanding its mission. Their most recent endeavor, The Green, an urban greenspace once used as parking lot just five years ago and now featuring native trees, lighted walking paths, public art installations and much more; is a welcomed respite from Broad Street’s bustle, providing guests an opportunity to relax outdoors while still remaining close to city life.

To gain further information, visit the Museum’s website.

Educators can save 10% when they show proof of teaching credentials when purchasing admission tickets and memberships to Science Museum of Virginia. Unfortunately, this discount is not available at the museum ticket booth or Group Adventures booked online; groups must book two weeks in advance in order to take advantage of discounted rates; adding a Live Science Program requires at least 10 paid guests and costs $140 ($10 per person Museum Admission + $4 per person Science Program for minimum of 10 guests).

Science Museum of Virginia is proud to be an ASTC Reciprocal member, so members can visit participating science centers and museums within 90 miles at their regular membership rate (2 adults + 2 children for $15). Furthermore, its Museums for All program offers limited-resource families an annual free general admission pass to enjoy.
