Yankee Candle gives teachers 10% off, and how you get it depends on whether you shop in a store or online. Its customer service FAQ lists “Teachers (in-store only)” under its 10% Discount Program, and the cashier asks to see a badge confirming employment. Its website footer also links to a Student Beans page that offers teachers a “10% Teacher Discount” code for online orders, with its own terms.
If you’re picking out a candle for the gift pile on your desk, or one for your own windowsill, settle first whether you’re going to a store or ordering online. Yankee Candle’s two pages don’t agree about online orders, so we’ve laid out both.
How To Get The Yankee Candle Teacher Discount
In a store, start with the 10% Discount Program page in Yankee Candle’s customer service FAQ. It says the program gives “10% off your purchase every day in all our retail stores, outlet stores, and online at YankeeCandle.com” and lists who’s eligible: active and retired members of the military and their immediate family, first responders, healthcare workers and “Teachers (in-store only).” To get it, the page says to present any valid form of identification to the cashier at checkout. For first responders, healthcare workers and teachers, the identification it lists is a “Badge confirming employment.”
Online, the route is on a different site. The footer of YankeeCandle.com links to “Verified Eligibility Discounts,” which opens a Student Beans page that says “We’ve teamed up with Student Beans and Beans iD to offer exclusive discounts to the following groups.” It lists Graduate, Healthcare, Military and Teacher discounts. The teacher page reads “10% Teacher Discount,” and the steps on the offer page are to create a free Beans iD account, verify your employment status, then reveal and enter your code at checkout. The page says “2 mins to verify,” which we didn’t time.
The FAQ and the Student Beans page don’t line up on online orders. The FAQ’s “Website Orders” line says only “Please click here to access your military discount,” so it doesn’t mention a teacher route online. The Student Beans page, which the same website links from its footer, offers one.
Who Counts As A Teacher
Neither page defines the word. The FAQ says only “Teachers” and asks for a badge confirming employment, and it doesn’t use the words K-12, college, professor or substitute, so it doesn’t say whether college instructors, aides, substitutes or retired teachers count. The Student Beans page asks you to “Verify your employment status.” We haven’t been through it, so we can’t tell you what it accepts.
What The 10% Covers, In Store And Online
In a store, the FAQ says the 10% can be combined with any other in-store or coupon discount. The online code is stricter. Its terms, behind the page’s “See discount Terms & Conditions” link, say “Excludes sale items, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.”
Yankee Candle’s Special Offers page adds a list for online promotions in general: gift cards, Personalization Feeds for Customized Candles, and products in the Sale Scenter are excluded from online promotions and special offers, and you can’t combine multiple promotions or apply a promotion to a previous purchase. That page doesn’t use the word teacher or mention Student Beans, so we can’t say whether its list applies to the teacher code. If you’re buying a gift card for a colleague, check before you count on a discount.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We couldn’t confirm whether Yankee Candle means teachers to use the Student Beans code online, since the FAQ marks teachers in-store only and its own footer links to the page that offers an online code. We didn’t verify through Beans iD, place an order or visit a store, so we can’t say how a cashier handles a badge or whether the code works at checkout.
The pages give no end date, and none of them gives holiday or Black Friday terms for teachers. We also don’t know which kinds of badge a cashier accepts, because the FAQ says only “Badge confirming employment.”
Q&A
Does Yankee Candle give teachers a discount?
Yes. Its FAQ lists teachers (in-store only) for 10% off with a badge confirming employment, and a Student Beans page linked from its website footer offers a 10% Teacher Discount code.
Can teachers use it online?
The Student Beans page offers a code to enter at checkout after you verify your employment status. The FAQ’s Website Orders line mentions only the military discount, so the two pages differ.
What do I bring to a store?
The FAQ says to present valid identification at checkout, and for teachers it lists a badge confirming employment.

In a store, the FAQ says the 10% can be combined with any other in-store or coupon discount. The online code’s terms say it can’t be used with any other offer.

No. The offer’s terms say it excludes sale items.
Does it cost anything to verify?
The Student Beans page says to create a free Beans iD account and to click through to verify and receive your discount for free.
