Starz doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find, and its home page has no educator, student, military, school or discount wording on it. What it does have is a promotional price of $5 a month for 3 months, shown on that page, and a Fluz page that lists 1.5% cash back, so there’s a way to pay a little less than the regular price.
Starz is a premium channel built around original series and movies. If you’ve been waiting out a series until it’s all there to watch, the promotional price is the thing to compare, since it’s the lowest number the home page shows.
How To Get The Starz Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher rate to claim. We read Starz’s home page and found no wording for educators, students or discounts of any kind. The page shows a promotional price of $5 a month for 3 months, and a Claim Special Offer button that says it starts at $4.99 a month. Those are the lowest prices on the page, and they’re open to everyone, so a teacher pays the same as anyone else.
The one route we found that takes something off is cash back through Fluz, which lists a Starz page titled “1.5% cashback at STARZ.” We didn’t test whether it applies when you subscribe directly, so read the terms on the page before you count on it.
What The Home Page Shows
The page lists Starz Originals and Exclusives. It also carries a banner at the top telling Verizon Fios customers they have lost Starz, with a Contact Verizon button. If you get your internet or TV through Verizon Fios, that banner is worth reading before you sign up, because it tells Fios customers to take it up with Verizon. If you’re on Fios because of the teacher rate, our post on the Verizon Fios teacher discount covers what that one gets you.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
Fluz is the only one of the three cash back portals we checked with a Starz page. TopCashback has no Starz page at the address we tried, and Rakuten’s address for Starz loads a general page instead of a store page. That leaves one rate to report, and since it comes from a page title, treat it as the portal’s current number and confirm it before you buy. On a plan this size, 1.5% is pennies a month, so it’s a small extra and not a reason to pick one service over another.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The promotional price comes with terms we didn’t open, so we can’t tell you what Starz charges after the first 3 months or who counts as a new subscriber. We also didn’t create an account to see the checkout screen. Starz could offer teachers something through its help center that isn’t on its home page, and a short message to its support team is the way to find out.
