Frndly TV doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find, and its home page doesn’t mention teachers, educators, students or schools at all. What it does have is a 7-day free trial and a cash back page on Fluz that lists 1.5%, so there are two ways to pay a little less than the sticker price.
Frndly TV is a live TV service built around family and feel-good channels. Its home page says its channels include all 3 Hallmark Channels, and it calls itself the most affordable live TV streaming service. If you’re a teacher who’s priced out a cable bundle for the holiday movie season and balked, it’s the kind of service that page is written for.
How To Get The Frndly TV Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher rate to claim. We read Frndly TV’s home page and found no teacher, educator, student, school or discount wording anywhere on it. The page’s own offer is the free trial: every plan button on it reads “Watch 7 days free.” The cash back route is the one saving we could actually find, and it runs through Fluz.
What The Plans Cost
The headline on the home page says 50+ channels starting at $6.99 a month, but the plan list lower on the same page shows three tiers. Basic is $8.99 and gives you standard definition video on 1 screen at a time. Classic is $10.99, with HD video on 2 screens at a time and unlimited DVR recordings. Premium is $12.99, with HD video on 4 screens at a time and unlimited DVR recordings. The page also says there are no commitments and you can cancel anytime.
If you’re the only person watching, Basic is the one to compare against. If a spouse or a couple of kids watch at the same time, the screen counts on Classic and Premium are the reason to move up, and so is DVR, which the page lists on those two tiers.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
Fluz has a Frndly TV page titled “1.5% cashback at Frndly TV.” TopCashback has a Frndly TV page too, though we checked it for the page only and didn’t read a rate off it. Rakuten’s addresses for Frndly TV load a general page instead of a store page, so we have nothing to report from Rakuten.
We didn’t test whether the Fluz rate applies to a monthly subscription, so read the terms on its page before you count on the 1.5%. Rates change, and a small percentage on a plan this size is a few cents a month, so treat it as a bonus and not a reason to choose one service over another.
Add-Ons
The home page offers Hallmark+ as an add-on to a Frndly TV subscription, and says it requires an active Frndly TV subscription. We didn’t see a price for it on the page. If Hallmark is the reason you’re looking at Frndly TV, check the add-on price at sign-up so the total isn’t a surprise.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t start the trial, so we can’t tell you whether it asks for a card up front or what it bills at the end. The headline price of $6.99 and the $8.99 Basic price don’t match on the same page, and we couldn’t tell what the lower number refers to, so use the plan list and confirm the price at sign-up. Frndly TV may give teachers something through its help center that isn’t on its home page, and a short message to its support team is the way to find out.
