Home Chef names teachers on its discount page and offers new customers 50% off the first box, up to $60, plus 10% off future orders. Free shipping on that first box and a free item for life come with it, so a week where you don’t have to plan dinner starts out a lot cheaper than usual.
Home Chef describes fresh, pre-portioned ingredients delivered to your door, and you choose recipes each week to fit your preferences and dietary restrictions. The teacher discount runs through ID.me, and the way you claim it depends on whether you’re new or already a customer, so we’ve split both paths out below.
How To Get The Home Chef Teacher Discount
Open Home Chef’s discount page. It says Home Chef is proud to support doctors, nurses, hospital employees, military, first responders and teachers. New users verify with ID.me during the signup process, and that’s where the discount gets applied.
If you already have an account, the page says to verify with ID.me on the payment page of your account to begin receiving the discount. Home Chef also says signup prompts for your zip code to confirm it delivers to your area, and that it delivers coast-to-coast, so it’s worth entering yours early.
What The Offer Gives You
The page’s offer is 50% off your first box, up to $60, and 10% on future orders. It adds free shipping on the first box and a free item for life. ID.me’s Home Chef page lists Teachers at the same numbers and describes the free item as a dessert item.
The cap matters. The 50% stops at $60, so a bigger first box doesn’t earn a bigger discount past that point. Home Chef also says shipping price will vary depending on your meal plan, and ID.me’s restrictions say a shipping fee applies on deliveries after the first box, so look at the shipping line at the end of signup before you commit.
The Free Dessert Item
ID.me’s restrictions spell out the lifetime perk. The dessert offer is one free dessert item per box while you’re an active customer. It ends if you skip six straight weeks or if the subscription is canceled or paused, and there’s no reinstatement upon reactivation. Home Chef’s page itself just says “a free item for life,” so we’re leaning on ID.me for the detail, and we couldn’t confirm those conditions on Home Chef’s own page.
That makes the skip rules worth a look. Home Chef says you can skip a weekly delivery by Friday at noon CST the week before your scheduled delivery. During a busy stretch of the school year, that’s a reason to skip one week rather than let several in a row go by.
The Fine Print
ID.me’s restrictions say the offer is limited to one per household, may not be combined with gift cards or other offers, and isn’t valid in all states. Those lines sit in one block on the ID.me page, and the page doesn’t separate them by group, so treat them as the likely terms and confirm at signup. ID.me groups Teachers with military, first responders and health care professionals as new users who verify with ID.me in the signup process.
