We couldn’t confirm a teacher discount at 1-800 Contacts, and when contacts are a bill that comes around every year, that’s a letdown. ID.me’s Teachers page for the brand says it isn’t aware that 1-800 Contacts offers Teachers discounts. What does exist is cash back that anyone can earn, teacher or not, and a first-order discount that sits in a student program.

1-800 Contacts describes itself on its SheerID offer page as the world’s largest contact lens retailer. The idea is simple: you send the prescription your eye doctor wrote, and it ships the exact lenses. We tried to read the company’s own site to look for an educator offer, and it returned an access-denied page to our automated request, so everything below comes from the platforms that list the brand rather than from 1-800 Contacts itself.

How To Get The 1-800 Contacts Teacher Discount

There’s no teacher discount to apply for, so the practical move is to take the cash back that is open to everyone. Which portal pays best depends on whether you’ve ordered from 1-800 Contacts before. TopCashback lists up to 14% of the price back, and its rate table splits it in two: 14% for a new 1-800 Contacts customer on an online purchase, and 1% for an existing one. If you’ve ordered before, that 1% isn’t worth chasing. Rakuten lists 4% Cash Back at 1-800 Contacts with no new-customer condition we could see, and ID.me lists up to 8.0%.

Start your order from one portal only. We didn’t find any of these portals saying you can combine them on a single order, so don’t count on stacking. Before you check out, open the portal’s store page and read the rate it shows for your account, since an “up to” number is a ceiling. Fluz is the lowest of the four at 1.5% cash back when you pay with a Fluz virtual card, and it’s the one to consider only if you already use Fluz for other shopping.

The button below goes to TopCashback, which has the highest rate in the group for a first-time 1-800 Contacts customer.

The Cash Back ID.me Lists For Everyone

ID.me’s 1-800 Contacts store page says to activate up to 8.0% cash back. That is a cash back offer open to any ID.me shopper, and it isn’t a teacher benefit. The page’s restriction is that using coupons and promotional codes not on ID.me may void the cash back, so if you have a code in your inbox, think twice before pasting it in.

The 30% First-Order Offer

You may run into a 30% off offer for 1-800 Contacts on SheerID, a verification service that stores use to confirm who is eligible. The offer page says verified customers get 30% off their first order, applied automatically at checkout after a quick online verification. SheerID files it under the students verification type, not educators. If you’re a teacher who is also enrolled in classes, that page is where to check whether you qualify. If you aren’t, don’t count on it. We couldn’t confirm whether that discount and a portal’s cash back can be combined on one order, so read the portal’s terms before you try both.

What Cash Back Doesn’t Cover

Rakuten’s terms say Cash Back isn’t available on gift cards, eye exams, glasses, price matched orders, employee discounted orders or the insurance benefits applied, and that orders completed in the 1800contacts app may void it. TopCashback excludes orders that use a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback. In plain terms, order contacts on the website, keep any outside promo code out of the cart, and skip the app on days you want the cash back to track.

Q&A

Does 1-800 Contacts give teachers a discount?
Not one we could confirm. ID.me says it isn’t aware of a Teachers discount at 1-800 Contacts, and the company’s own site wouldn’t load for our automated read.

Which cash back portal pays the most?
For a new customer, TopCashback at 14%. For someone who has ordered before, Rakuten at 4% beats TopCashback’s 1%, and ID.me lists up to 8.0%. Fluz lists 1.5%.

Can I use more than one portal on the same order?
Pick one. We couldn’t find any of these portals saying you can combine them, so start each order from a single portal and read its terms.

Does the 30% offer work for teachers?
SheerID lists it under students. If you’re also a student, check the offer page. If you’re only a teacher, we couldn’t confirm that you’d be eligible.

Does cash back apply to eye exams and glasses?
Not on Rakuten, whose terms exclude both, along with orders that use insurance benefits.

Could 1-800 Contacts add a teacher discount later?
It could. If one appears, ID.me’s page for the brand is where it would show up first, so check there again before your next order.

More Information:

The rates and terms above come from ID.me, SheerID, Rakuten, TopCashback and Fluz as they loaded when we checked, and they change without notice, so confirm the number on the portal before you order. Nothing here claims a teacher discount that 1-800 Contacts hasn’t published. See more health and fitness discounts for teachers, and the posts in cash back for teachers.
