Step back in time this fall to experience medieval magic, jousting, and revelry at the nation’s largest Renaissance festival – Todd Mission near Houston is home to the Texas Renaissance Festival which recreates an 16th-century European village for eight weekends starting October 7. Enjoy jousting matches, 200 daily performances, 400 shoppes with various themes such as Oktoberfest, 1001 Dream — Fairies and Fantasy; Pirate Adventure; All Hollow’s Eve and Celtic Christmas as you are transported back through time at this nation-wide spectacle!
Entertainment on the grounds during the festival includes everything from jugglers and actors to acrobats, accordion players and accordion player; from jousting tournaments showcasing knights in armor jousting against each other to accordion players dressed as peasants performing throughout its duration since 1976. This has become one of the mainstays of this annual celebration!
If a show isn’t quite your cup of tea, there are numerous hands-on demonstrations by artisans such as pottery and weaving, glassblowing, metalsmithing and an exact replica of Guttenberg’s printing press to see.
