Please Touch Museum doesn’t list a discount for individual teachers. What its groups page lists are rates for booked group trips: $18 per person for a self-guided tour, $22 for a guided play tour and $24 for a guided workshop, with one adult free for every five children.
If you’re a kindergarten teacher wondering what a workshop asks of a kindergarten class, or you’re thinking of a Saturday visit with your own kids, this page covers both. The group rates only apply to booked trips, so the family-visit discounts the museum does list are further down.
How To Get The Please Touch Museum Teacher Discount
There’s no individual teacher discount to claim, so the way to save is to book a group trip. The page says groups of 15 or more can receive discounted admission when booked in advance through the Group Sales team, and that field trip experiences are available Wednesday through Friday mornings. Groups enter through a dedicated Group Entrance, and a 5:1 child-to-adult ratio is required for every group.
The self-guided tour is $18 per person, and the page calls it perfect for teachers and group leaders who want to explore the museum exhibits at their own pace. The guided play tour is $22 per person: a 45-minute play tour plus museum exploration, guided by a Museum Educator, using a building play skills process the page names Imagine, Plan, Become, and Adapt. The guided workshop is $24 per person and pairs a 30-minute workshop with museum exploration. You choose one of three workshops: Collaborative Mosaic-Making for PreK and up, the Three Little Pigs Engineering Challenge for kindergarten and up, or Discovering Democracy.
The Three Little Pigs workshop has students design, build, test and improve a house while building with recycled materials. Discovering Democracy combines classroom lessons, digital learning games and a guided field trip. The mosaic and Three Little Pigs workshops each hold 60 kids per session, and Discovering Democracy holds 50. After any guided experience, the page says groups are welcome to explore the museum until 2 PM.
One adult is free for every five children, and that ratio is also the minimum. Adults aren’t allowed to buy individual tickets and join a group trip. If your school or organization isn’t paying for some of the adults, the page says the museum can process multiple individual payments on the day of their visit as long as they’re accounted for.
To book, fill out the request form on the groups page. The page recommends booking 2-3 months in advance for best availability, and says your trip is only booked once you send in your signed contract and deposit 30 days after receiving your emailed quote. Add-Ons, Lunch And Day-Of Details
The page lists a digital material add-on at $1 per student. For carousel rides in a group of 60 people or less, a single ride is $3 per child and unlimited rides are $5 per child, and it says all chaperones ride for free.
For lunch, you can rent a lunchroom for $75 for 30 minutes, with a capacity of 75 people. There’s no refrigeration or heating, and coolers aren’t permitted. Boxed lunches are $14 per box. Orders must be placed 15 days in advance with payment due before the visit, and all sales are final and can’t be changed on arrival.
Buses can park along Lansdowne Drive for free after dropping the group off in the bus circle, and chaperones can park in the gated lot for $20 per vehicle. The page asks groups to leave all coats on the bus.
Headcounts, Cancellations And What Doesn’t Apply
A final headcount must be submitted at least one week before the visit. Additional children and adults who show up without being in the headcount won’t receive discounted tickets. Cancellations must be made at least fourteen days before the visit, and cancelling inside that window forfeits the deposit.
Memberships, ACCESS/EBT cards and promotions can’t be used for group visits, and a group visit can’t take place on a free admission day.
Visiting On Your Own
For a visit with your own family, the Ways to Save page is the place to look. If you hold a membership at another children’s museum with the Association of Children’s Museums reciprocal logo on the card, you’re eligible for a 50% discount on up to 6 tickets with proof of membership card and photo ID. Active duty firefighters and police officers with valid ID receive $2 off per ticket, up to 6 tickets, and active military and veterans can get $2 off, up to 6 tickets. Both of those need photo ID at the admission desk.
The museum also follows the Museums for All and ACCESS admissions policy: present a valid PA or DE ACCESS Card or an out-of-state SNAP EBT card along with photo ID. One card admits the cardholder and up to three friends or family members at the discounted rate, ages one and older. The page says the museum doesn’t accept WIC, Summer EBT or P-EBT cards. And if you’ll be back often, the page says a membership can end up paying for itself by your second visit.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The groups page doesn’t say whether the teacher is counted among the free adults or what any adult beyond the ratio pays, only that unpaid adults can be processed as individual payments on the day. It also doesn’t list the regular admission price, so we left it out. Workshop options are described as they appear on the page now, so ask Group Sales which ones are running for your date.
