cotopaxi is offering teachers some extra savings with its already affordable outdoor gear prices by taking an extra 20% off all purchases for September – including fall gear like fleeces, windbreakers and swim trunks (if it has been too long since purchasing). Plus, cotopaxi is a B-Corp certified company which dedicates one percent of profits towards alleviating poverty and supporting global community development initiatives.
Davis Smith, the company’s founder, spent much of his childhood travelling around Latin America. This unusual upbringing taught him survival skills as well as giving back to those less fortunate than him, prompting him to create Cotopaxi in 2014. Cotopaxi is an outdoor gear company dedicated to producing eco-friendly gear for adventurers of all types; their name hails from an Ecuadorian volcano named Cotopaxi and their credo reads simply, “Gear for Good.”
Nearly all of their backpacks, duffel bags, dopp kits and other outdoor products are crafted using recycled remnant fabrics that provide work opportunities for marginalized communities around the globe. Furthermore, one percent of annual revenue goes directly to non-profit organizations that fight poverty by providing access to education, health and livelihoods.
Cotopaxi is proud to be part of the 1% for Social Impact movement, meaning they rank within the top one percent of businesses within their industry in allocating at least one percent of revenues toward good causes. They design their products to last as long as possible to reduce waste and replacement needs.
