Sling TV doesn’t have a teacher discount that we could find. Its own deals page has a section for students and nothing for teachers, and ID.me says it isn’t aware of one either. What Sling TV does have is cash back: Rakuten lists 15% on a first subscription, Fluz lists 7.5% on Sling TV gift cards, and TopCashback has a Sling TV page.
If you’re a teacher wondering whether you can shave something off a live TV bill, the answer here is cash back, not a teacher rate. Below is what each route says, what each one leaves out, and one free option on Sling’s own site.
How To Get The Sling TV Teacher Discount
There’s no teacher rate to claim. Sling TV’s deals page has a section headed “Savings for students” that says to see its exclusive offers for students, and we saw no teacher or educator wording on it or on the home page. ID.me’s Sling TV page reads “We’re not aware that SLING TV offers Teachers discounts.” That isn’t proof by itself, which is why we read Sling’s own pages too.
The student offer is the one place Sling puts a discount in front of a specific group. Student Beans lists it as $10 off for 6 months, and says students verify their student status to reach the Sling TV education store. That’s for students, so as a teacher you shouldn’t count on it. If you’re also taking classes, it’s worth a look.
The best route we could confirm for a new subscriber is Rakuten’s cash back, so the button below goes there. Read the terms in the next section first, because they’re narrower than the headline number.
What Each Cash Back Source Says
Rakuten. The Sling TV page is titled “Sling TV Coupons, Promo Codes & 15% Cash Back.” Its terms say cash back is available one time only, on initial subscriptions, and it’s limited to one per member. They also say cash back isn’t available on the purchase or redemption of gift cards. So the 15% is for someone signing up for the first time, not for a monthly bill you already pay.
Fluz. Fluz lists Sling TV gift cards with 7.5% cashback and sells them as e-gift cards. That route works through gift cards, which means it’s a separate path from Rakuten’s, since Rakuten excludes gift cards. We didn’t buy one, so we can’t tell you how the credit shows up on a Sling account.
TopCashback. There’s a Sling TV page on TopCashback. We’re not quoting a rate from it, because we didn’t read one we could stand behind.
ID.me. ID.me’s Sling TV store page says “Activate up to $7.50 cash back” and notes that free subscriptions aren’t eligible for cashback. That page is ID.me’s own listing, and it’s open to every member rather than just teachers.
A Free Option On Sling’s Own Site
Sling’s home page says you can get 600+ free live TV channels plus free DVR and win cash. It’s the one thing here that costs nothing, so if the goal is simply less spent on TV this month, start there before you pay for a plan.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t sign up, so we can’t say what a paid plan costs after any first-month credit, or whether a cash back route stacks with a promotion running on Sling’s own site. Sling’s deals page may list an offer that its page text doesn’t show us, and a short message to Sling’s support is the way to ask whether a teacher program exists.
