Rad claims its models sell for hundreds of dollars less than competing brands, and since it doesn’t buy from dealers or middlemen, the company can keep its prices low without compromising quality.

Rad Power Bikes, an e-bike company, has raised $154 million from investors as it looks to expand its US and international operations. Its business model is direct-to-consumer – a strategy which has seen great success among consumers.

But the company’s success may be at risk due to President Trump’s tariffs on Chinese-made e-bikes. In an interview with Bloomberg, Mike Radenbaugh – founder and CEO of Rad Power Bikes – expressed concern that his e-bikes would become too expensive for customers once the tariffs take effect.

Instead of worrying about tariffs, Rad plans on exploring ways to expand its business and improve its products. That includes releasing new bike models and entering new markets.
